Abstract: Microfluid channel structure comprises channel sections (3, 5) arranged in series with a microchannel (4) between a first connection (1) and a second connection (7) in the flow direction of the medium. The channel sections are connected to the microchannel. The channel sections have a larger flow resistance than the microchannel. An Independent claim is also included for a process for the production of the microfluid channel structure. Preferred Features: The channel sections are directly connected to the microchannel and have a smaller cross-sectional surface than the microchannel. The channels of the channel sections are arranged across the flow direction of the medium.

Abstract: Detecting biochemical reactions, a substrate (10) is used of silicon with macro-pores (11) passing through from at least at one side (10A,10B), with a diameter of 500 nm to 100 micro m. At least one catch molecule (20) is immobilized in each pore, in a specific location at the inner walls of at least part of the pores to give a biochemical reaction, using DNA, proteins and ligands. Analytes are introduced, to make contact with the catch molecules, using DNA, RNA, peptide nucleic acid (PNA), saccharide, peptide, proteins, cellular components, single cells, multi-cellular organisms and the like. A surface (10A) of the substrate is illuminated (40), and the light transmission through the pores is measured (50) at the other surface to show the reactions which have occurred within the pores.

Abstract: A method for detecting a biochemical reaction includes immobilizing a capture molecule on an inner wall of a pore selected from a multiplicity of pores extending between first and second opposed surfaces of a macroporous substrate and contacting an analyte with the capture molecule. A light is then directed into the pore. A change in a light transmission property of the pore is then detected. This change indicates a binding reaction between the analyte and the capture molecule.

An Independent claim is included for the production of the device, comprising applying (II) to at least part of the surface of the pores of (I) to form a 3-dimensional matrix.
