Abstract: An autonomous coverage robot includes a chassis (102), a drive system (104) to maneuver the robot, an edge cleaning head (106,214,274,316), and a controller (108) configured to monitor motor current associated with the edge cleaning head and to reverse bias the edge cleaning head motor in response to an elevated motor current, while continuing to maneuver the robot across the floor. In another aspect, the autonomous coverage robot includes a bump sensor (132) and a proximity sensor (134). The drive system is configured to reduce a speed setting in response to a signal from the proximity sensor (134) indicating detection of a potential obstacle in a forward direction, while continuing to advance the robot according to a heading setting. Furthermore, the drive system is configured to alter the heading setting in response to a signal received from the bump sensor (132) indicating contact with an obstacle.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an autonomous cleaning robot which suitably detects existence of a cliff, such as a set of stairs in a floor surface to prevent the robot from falling down the cliff when the robot meeting with the cliff while moving.SOLUTION: The autonomous cleaning robot includes: a chassis; a drive system mounted on the chassis and having a plurality of wheels configured to maneuver the autonomous cleaning robot; a floor proximity sensor carried by the chassis and configured to detect the cliff in the floor surface; a run off sensor disposed in the proximity of the wheel and detecting a downward displacement of the wheel relative to the chassis; and a verification system for verifying whether the floor proximity sensor is blocked, based on the detection result of the floor proximity sensor, when the run off sensor detects that all the wheels of the drive system run off.

Abstract: Un robot de amplia cobertura que comprende: un chasis unitario (202) que define una pluralidad de receptáculos que reciben módulos (304, 306, 308, 310, 312)teniendo cada uno un enchufe eléctrico (204, 206, 208, 210) del lado del receptáculo que funciona sin herramientas;un controlador (1050) configurado para proporcionar un control eléctrico independiente a cada enchufe eléctrico(204, 206, 208, 210) del lado del receptáculo que funciona sin herramientas; y una cubierta inferior (118) para la retención de la batería (302) recibida dentro de un receptáculo (312); al menos uno de los receptáculos (304, 306, 308, 310, 312) recibe un módulo de la rueda motriz (110a-b) fácilmenteextraíble del chasis (202) como una unidad completa cuando ya no está asegurada por la cubierta inferior (118),comprendiendo el módulo de la rueda motriz (110a-b): una carcasa del módulo de rueda motriz (324a-b); una rueda (326a-b) acoplada giratoriamente a la carcasa (324a-b); y un motor de accionamiento de rueda (328a-b) situado en la carcasa del módulo de rueda motriz (324a-b) y quefunciona para accionar la rueda (326a-b), estando conectado el motor de accionamiento de rueda (328a-b) a unenchufe eléctrico (1002a-b) del lado del módulo que funciona sin herramientas que se acopla a un enchufe eléctrico(204, 206) correspondiente del lado del receptáculo; y en el que al menos uno de los receptáculos (304, 306, 308, 310, 312) recibe un módulo de cabezal funcional (112,102) que comprende: una carcasa del cabezal funcional (332, 338); un elemento funcional móvil (334, 340) transportado por la carcasa del cabezal funcional (332, 338); y un motor de accionamiento funcional (336, 342) situado en la carcasa del conjunto de limpieza (332, 338) y quefunciona para accionar el elemento funcional (334, 340), estando conectado el motor de accionamiento funcional(336, 342) a un enchufe eléctrico (1402, 410) del lado del módulo que funciona sin herramientas que se acopla conun enchufe eléctrico (208, 210) correspondiente del lado del receptáculo.

The cleaning assembly includes a driven cleaning roller, a cleaning bin disposed on the body for receiving debris agitated by the cleaning roller, and an air mover. The cleaning bin includes a cleaning bin body having a cleaning bin entrance disposed adjacent to the cleaning roller and a roller scraper disposed on the cleaning bin body for engaging the cleaning roller. The cleaning 10 bin body has a holding portion in pneumatic communication with the cleaning bin entrance, and the air mover is operable to move air into the cleaning bin entrance.
