Abstract:
Provided is a packaged beverage e.g. tea extract, which comprises, in the dissolved form, catechins composed of the following non-polymer component (A) and another non-polymer component (B): (A) non-epi-catechins, (b) epi-catechins, and has, per 500 mL of the packaged beverage, said components in amounts satisfying the following equations: (i) (A) + (B) = 460 to 2500 mg (ii) (A) = 160 to 2250 mg (iii) (A)/(B) = 0.54 to 9.0. The packaged beverages of the present invention are excellent in stability of color tone and transparent appearance even after long-term storage, have smooth feeling in the throat upon drinking, and have good palatability; and in addition, have PPAR-dependent gene transcription activating effects which are safe and effective for prevention and alleviation of obesity.
Abstract:
The process for preparing an alkylene oxide adduct, including the steps of feeding an organic compound having active hydrogen and an alkylene oxide to a reaction column packed with a solid catalyst, and carrying out addition reaction of the organic compound having active hydrogen with an alkylene oxide in a gas-liquid fixed bed reaction, wherein the alkylene oxide is in a state of gas and the organic compound having active hydrogen is in a state of liquid.
Abstract:
A method of selectively removing caffeine from a caffeine-containing catechin compound composition, characterized by dissolving the caffeine-containing catechin compound composition in a mixed solution comprising an organic solvent and water in a weight ratio of from 9/1 to 1/9 and bringing the solution into contact with activated carbon or with activated carbon and either acid clay or activated clay; and a bottled drink containing a decaffeinated composition obtained by the method.
Abstract:
The present invention provides refined roasted coffee beans having a Hunter L value of 10 to 30 and a hydroxyhydroquinone content of not higher than 30 mg/kg by contacting an aqueous solvent with raw material roasted coffee beans. The invention also provides a process for producing refined roasted coffee beans, which includes contacting raw material roasted coffee beans having a Hunter L value of 12 to 35, with coffee bean-derived extract-containing water selected from water containing an extract derived from roasted coffee beans having a Hunter L value of 40 or more and water containing an extract derived from raw coffee beans.
Abstract:
It is intended to provide a vegetable drink composition which is free from any undesirable odor caused by thermal sterilization, has a rich flavor and a high smoothness in swallow and can be taken over a prolonged period of time. A thermally sterilized vegetable drink composition which contains from 0.001 to 09% by mass of solid vegetables, has a pH value of from 3 to 5 and contains the following components (A) and (B): (A) from 0.1 to 15% by mass of one or more members selected from the group consisting of acidic polysaccharide-based water-soluble dietary fibers, neutral polysaccharide-based water-soluble dietary fibers and hardly digestible oligosaccharides; and (B) 65% by mass or more of water.
