    Abstract: A method of producing a pulp molded article is disclosed. The method comprises the steps of: feeding a pulp slurry to a cavity (4) of a papermaking mold (1) having a prescribed cavity shape to form a pulp preform (7) comprising a main part (7a) having an opening and a separable part (7b) having a flange (7c) and connected to the edge of the opening; inserting a pressing member (8) into the preform (7); expanding the pressing member (8) to press the preform (7) toward the papermaking surface; removing the preform (7) from the papermaking mold (1); and then cutting the preform (7) at a joint between the separable part (7b) and the main part (7a).

    Abstract: A method of producing a pulp molded article which includes a papermaking step comprising joining each split (11 and 12) having suction passageways (14) into a papermaking mold (10), starting feed of a pulp slurry having a predetermined concentration into the cavity (13) of the papermaking mold (10), and sucking the pulp slurry through the suction passageways (14) to form a pulp layer (15) on the inner surface of the papermaking mold, wherein the concentration of the pulp slurry in the cavity (13) in the initial stage and/or the final stage of pulp layer (15) formation in the papermaking step is lower than the predetermined concentration of the pulp slurry to be fed.
