Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of improving signals by changing voltage applied to an analysis trap of a high resolution Fourier transform ion cyclotron resonance mass spectrometer (FT-ICRMS) according to measurement stages, and in details, provide a method in which independent voltage different from a trap electrode is applied on an electrode added to the center part of the trap electrode after ions are activated and this is maintained until one measurement cycle is over. SOLUTION: When the method is applied, stability of ions confined in the trap becomes higher and a measured time region signal becomes longer. As for the time region signal that becomes longer, resolution and sensitivity of frequency or the region signal of a mass/charge ratio are enhanced. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hybrid ion transmitting device for enhancing transmission efficiency of an RF ion transmitting tube to which a gate valve is attached by using an electrostatic lens. SOLUTION: This hybrid ion transmitting device for enhancing detection sensitivity and resolution by using an electrostatic lens ion transmitting tube in the front, enabling use of a gate valve in the middle, and using an RF ion transmitting tube having good transmission efficiency in a high electric field in the back can be manufactured by combination of the electrostatic lens and the RF ion transmitting tube. That is, the hybrid ion transmitting device has a structure in which the electrostatic lens for transmitting injected ions and applying a voltage so that the ions can be focused on the center of the ion transmitting direction axis and the RF ion transmitting tube connected to the electrostatic lens to pass the ions focused on the center of the ion transmitting direction axis are connected through the gate valve. By this structure, the ion transmission efficiency is enhanced, and signal attenuation caused by collision with surrounding neutral gas is suppressed as much as possible by providing a stable vacuum state, and the hybrid ion transmitting device can enhance detection sensitivity and resolution thereby. Abstract:
An apparatus for signal improvement of a fourier transform ion cyclotron resonance(FT-ICR) mass spectrometer is provided to stabilize the motion of activated ions by applying an optimized voltage to each electrode. An apparatus for signal improvement of a fourier transform ion cyclotron resonance(FT-ICR) mass spectrometer comprises trapping electrodes(10) separated from the front and rear surfaces, activating and detecting electrodes(11), first adjusting electrodes(12), and second adjusting electrodes(13). The activating and detecting electrodes placed between the trapping electrodes has a trap. The first adjusting electrodes are connected to the activating and detecting electrode via a capacitor. The second adjusting electrodes, a portion of the trapping electrodes, are electrically isolated.
Abstract:
A method for controlling a tandem mass analyzer of pipeline type is provided to independently operate a test material injection section, a first ion transfer section, an ion selection/separation section, an ion collision section, and a second ion transfer section. A method for controlling a tandem mass analyzer of pipeline type includes the steps of: operating a first ion transfer section and operating a second ion transfer section by a control unit(S28); operating an ion selection/separation section and operating a trap section by the control unit(S29); and colliding ions selected or separated by the ion selection/separation section and dividing the ions into a small size and discharging the ions and operating the test material injection section(S29a).
