    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide such a manufacturing method of a heater-embedded planar channel waveguided type optical switch as being capable of restraining the transmission of heat generated in thin film heaters to neighboring channel waveguide to prevent leakage present situation between neighboring channel waveguide and increasing a heat transmission speed to increase a switching speed for operation with low operating power. SOLUTION: On a lower clad layer 13 in which channel waveguide 17a, 17b are formed, a first upper clad layer 19 is formed flat which is 5-10μm thick on the channel waveguide 17a, 17b. In areas corresponding to the channel waveguide 17a, 17b on the first upper clad layer, thin film heaters 21a, 21b are formed which has line widths as about twice as the line widths of the channel waveguide 17a, 17b. Then, on the first upper clad layer 19 and the thin film heaters 21a, 21b, a second upper clad layer 23 is formed which has 15-20μm thick. For the early heat radiation of the thin film heaters 21a, 21b, the second upper clad layer 23 is removed to expose the thin film heaters 21a, 21b.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To provide the optical connector of low loss at low cost. CONSTITUTION: While utilizing elastic body deforming energy provided in a polymer material (elastic body ferrule) 31, the top end face of an optical fiber 40 is tightly contacted with the top end face of another optical fiber 40. Thus, the loss at a connection part is minimized. In order to prevent the position deviation between the top end faces, the contact is performed through a precisely worked line-up element 30. The line-up element 30 is provided at an adapter, and the elastic body ferrule 31 and the optical fiber 40 are provided at a plug. By utilizing the line-up element 30, the easiness and economicity of assembly can be improved and the loss is reduced.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To evaluate various characteristics simultaneously by integrating testers for various characteristics thereby enhancing the efficiency of the tester. SOLUTION: The tester comprises a rotary section 101 being driven through a motor such that a tensile test, a bending test and a strain test can be carried out, a control section 103 fixed to one side of the rotary section 101 and controlling the speed and the number of times of test being carried out, and an impact test section 102 fixed to the opposite side of the rotary section 101 and performing an impact test by falling a test piece while adjusting the height thereof freely. Since the tester evaluates the tensile characteristics, the bending characteristics, the strain characteristics, the impact characteristics, and the like, simultaneously, the measuring time can be shortened while reducing the labor and the mechanical characteristics can be evaluated efficiently and economically. Consequently, the mechanical characteristics can be evaluated accurately and reliably using a precisely manufactured tester.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the multi-fiber optical connector for the ribbon type optical cable for contributing to a film hold in an optical communication age by the early actualization of an optical passive network by improving the ferrules, economy, performance, and assembly workability in the kernel field of optical connectors. SOLUTION: This connector is equipped with a ferrule 40 which can make an accurate connection so that both the end sides of a multi-fiber optical cable 50 are fixed and arrayed, an array block 12 which has its connection selection accurately aligned with both the sides of the ferrule 40, and an array means which includes a leaf spring 37 giving an elastic force to the ferrule 40. Further, the connector is equipped with an adapter 10 where the said array means is installed and coupled tightly and a coupling means which includes an optical cable protector 20 and a block 30.
