Abstract:
This invention relates to lubricating compositions comprising a major amount of an oil of lubricating viscosity and at least about 0.4 % by weight of at least one amine free thiadiazole, wherein the lubricating composition is free of organic polysulfides and contains less than about 2 % by weight of at least one dispersant. The invention also relates to concentrates and methods of using the lubricating compositions to control micro pitting. The lubricants provide improved performance for both macro and micro pitting, especially micro pitting.
Abstract:
The invention provides a method of lubricating containing: (a) employing a first functional fluid, (b) adding or contacting the first functional fluid with a controlled release gel wherein the controlled release gel has the desired additives to be released imparting the desired properties into the first functional fluid which is for lubricating a mechanical device; and/or adding a delivery system with the desired additives for a second functional fluid; (c) releasing the desired additives from the delivery system into the first functional fluid resulting in the first functional fluid changing into a second functional fluid, with the proviso that the second functional fluid is different from the first functional fluid.
Abstract:
A novel lubricating composition for manual transmissions with improved performance with sintered synchronized components. The lubricating oil composition contains high level of an alkaline earth sulfonate and amine phosphates.
Abstract:
The mixtures can be used as lubricating oil additives, in particular in lubricants and lubricants which do not contain phosphorus or only a small quantity of phosphorus. In one embodiment, the mixtures comprise (A) at least one ester of metaboric acid of the general formula where each R is, independently, a hydrocarbon group having from approx. 1 to 18 carbon atoms, R in an RO(R'O) group can be hydrogen when n = 0, or two of the R groups are unsaturated hydrocarbon groups which are linked together by way of a carbon, oxygen or nitrogen atom in order to form a ring, with each R' being, independently, an alkylene group having from approx. 2 to 4 carbon atoms, and n is from 0 to approx. 7, and (B) at least one oil-soluble, sulphurized organic compound. Where appropriate, the mixtures also contain (C) at least one corrosion inhibitor which serves as an auxiliary substance and/or (D) at least one oil-soluble dispersing agent/detergent. The mixtures according to the invention express improved properties under extreme pressure, improved wearing ability, and improved colour stability and an improved tour point depression.
