PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the removal; of an organic contaminant by fringing a soil contaminated by one or more kinds of organic chemicals into contact with an aq. composition containing a surfactant expressed by the specific formula. SOLUTION: The soil contaminated by a plurality of organic chemicals is brought into contact with the aq. composition containing the surfactant expressed by formula I such as nonylphenol of a nonionic surfactant. Where, in formula I, (n) represents 1, R represents a >=8C hydrocarbyl group, W represents a >=6C unreacted amino group containing >=1 ether bond per 6 carbon atoms, X is selected from groups represented by formula II. In formula II, Y is -O- or -NR'-, Z is OM or NR'2 , M is hydrogen, univalent metal or one valence of a polyvalent metal, quaternary ammonium ion, a 1-18C alkyl group or the like. R' is hydrogen, a 1-18C alkyl group or the like and is connected to W group through X group, Y group or -NR'-. As a result, the removal is effectively accelerated.
