Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten the time for retransmitting an error information block (e.g. deteriorated frame) and to improve the throughput of a communication channel where information is transported by applying a data puncture operation to information transmitted by a communication system, based on information on a received signal. SOLUTION: A receiver 109 of a user device 106 receives an information block via a forward link 102. Feedback or error restoration data extracted by a processor 111 is contained in the received information block and it is decided whether previous information transmitted by the user device 106 is to be retransmitted. The user device 106 transmits appropriate decoding status data to information which is transmitted at present and time, when the information block is retransmitted is reduced. The insertion of decoding status data into transmitted information is called data puncture.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the channel use rate in a wireless communication system by increasing the burst period so that additional data which become usable in the first burst transmission allocation are transmitted and adapting the burst period to an input data message. SOLUTION: A mobile communication exchange center 100, base station controllers 102, base transceiver stations 104, and remote users which operate respective mobile stations 106 are included. A wireless communication system like this allocates a burst period which is long enough to transmit data currently usable for transmission. The allocation of this long burst period accepts the transmission of additional message data arriving before the data burst transmission is completed. Message data arriving before a data burst ends are added to data allocated before the burst and the period of the burst is extended exceeding the initially allocated period when necessary.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To avoid the wasteful use of the channel resource of a communication system by minimizing the number of occurring times of time-outs. SOLUTION: In a method for controlling time-out of communication protocol, the length of the time-out is decided, based on the sum of an average channel delay and the quadruple of the deviation of a channel delay. When the deviation of the channel delay is increased by introducing a delay to a communication channel, the time required for the time-out becomes longer. Consequently, the channel resource of the communication system can be utilized effectively, because the length of the time-out dramatically decreases and wasteful ramp up times become shorter.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the transmission rate allocation efficiency of a wireless system by selecting a data rate sufficient for the support of the data rate of a communication link which is measured from data rate mode for a given user. SOLUTION: Management/control functions are supplied to the component of a wireless network. A mobile switch center(MSC) 100 supplies an interface between the wireless network and a cable network (PSTN) 110 or with a different wireless network (MSC) 120. A base station controller(BSC) 102 supplies the control and management functions to a base transceiver station(BTS) 104. The data rate of transmission on a communication link to a given user is measured on the basis of the measurement value of data in a data buffer. A data rate sufficient for supporting the data rate of the communication link, which is measured from a plurality of data rate modes, is selected to the given user.
