Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To disclose a method for safely transmitting a key used for a communication on a different network by using a 1st communication network. SOLUTION: In one implementation example, the key used for the communication on a data network is safely sent by using a CDMA network. The key used on the data network is sometimes used for authentication and/or ciphering.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten the time for retransmitting an error information block (e.g. deteriorated frame) and to improve the throughput of a communication channel where information is transported by applying a data puncture operation to information transmitted by a communication system, based on information on a received signal. SOLUTION: A receiver 109 of a user device 106 receives an information block via a forward link 102. Feedback or error restoration data extracted by a processor 111 is contained in the received information block and it is decided whether previous information transmitted by the user device 106 is to be retransmitted. The user device 106 transmits appropriate decoding status data to information which is transmitted at present and time, when the information block is retransmitted is reduced. The insertion of decoding status data into transmitted information is called data puncture.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently perform an automatic repetition request by making an identification number correspond to at least one unit of data to be transmitted. SOLUTION: On a receiver side, variables V(N) and V(R) are monitored. The variable V(N) shows a maximum sequence number, by which all the bytes of previous data are received without errors. V(R) shows the sequence number of subsequently new data byte, which is expected to be received from a transmitter. A variable VT(N) is a value of V(N), which is received the latest from the receiver in a control message sent from the receiver to the transmitter. A variable VT(R) is the latest value of the variable V(R) transmitted to the transmitter from the receiver in the control message. The variable V(S) is the sequence number allocated to the byte of next data, which is to be transmitted to the receiver from the transmitter.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve efficiency of a resources allocating method for high speed data in a radio communication system. SOLUTION: A radio communication system 100 consists of a selection distribution unit 180 for receiving high speed data, base station control devices 118 and 130 which perform allocation of the selection distribution unit 180 for receiving the high speed data and high speed data resources. The high speed data are received and stored in a buffer waiting matrix in the selection distribution unit 180 and the high speed data resources are allocated by base station controllers 118 and 130 in cooperation with a 'high data mark' message reception from the selection distribution unit 180, and the allocated high speed data resources are held by the base station controllers 118 and 130 in cooperation of the message reception of the level state of the high speed data from the selection distribution unit 180. Message transmission for instructing allocation of the high speed data resources from the selection distribution unit 180 to the base station control devices 118 and 130 is activated by normally monitoring a high speed data level in the buffer waiting matrix.

Abstract: A method for switching cells by a mobile equipment of a communication system. The mobile transmits a signal coded with a spreading code indicating the mobile's intent to switch cells and the coded information also identifies to which cell the mobile wants to switch. The coded information contains channel measurement adjustment information that is continuously transmitted to the cell which is currently serving the mobile. The flow of channel measurement adjustment information is therefore not disturbed by the application of the method of the present invention. Because the coded information identifies the target cell and indicates the mobile's intent to perform a cell switching procedure, the amount of processing done by the cells is significantly reduced thus increasing the likelihood of a successful switching procedure.

Abstract: A variable length sequence number is used to identify data units in a communication channel. The sequence number associated with the most recent data that has been received successfully and the sequence number expected with the next new data message to be received are examined to determine the minimum size sequence number necessary to unambiguously identify to the transmitter incorrectly received data that must be retransmitted in a later message. The receiver provides the transmitter with the sequence number associated with the last successfully received byte of data and the sequence number associated with the next expected byte of data. The receiver communicates this information to the transmitter using a NAK control message. The transmitter then uses the sequence number of the next byte of data to be transmitted and the information received in the control message from the receiver to determine the smallest number of bits necessary to represent the sequence numbers for both data transmissions and the retransmission of data that was not received properly by the receiver.
