Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cellular communication system provided with a central radio pool/traffic router (CRP/TR) that sends control and traffic signals over fiber optic transmission links that connect the CRP/TR with base stations of the cellular communication system. SOLUTION: The high bandwidth capacity of each fiber link allows a large band of radio frequencies representing many radio channels to pass between the CRP/TR and individual base stations. Radio sources can be shared by all base stations in the cellular communication system, dynamically, when and where needed, to meet access demands throughout the entire system. The CRP /TR is provided with low-powered digital and/or analog radios and also switching and modulating means used to convey signals between the radios and various base stations within the system.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for automatically transferring a call incoming to a first telephone set to a mobile unit when the mobile unit enters a service providing area by allowing a user to receive communication by a plurality of telephone sets without making it necessary for the user to manually input any code each time the user wants to start a call transferring function. SOLUTION: A mobile unit is registered as the automatic call transfer number of a first telephone set. The first telephone set is a cable telephone set or a radio telephone. A call incoming to the first telephone set is automatically transferred to a portable telephone by detecting the mobile unit which enters a service area. This call transfer is automatically performed without any additional input by a user. When it is detected that the mobile unit is out of service due to whether the power source of the mobile unit is not applied or the mobile unit is away from the service providing area of a radio service provider, the automatic call transfer to the portable telephone is ended.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for automatically forwarding a call directed to a mobile telephone when the mobile telephone is out of service, or when the mobile telephone is turned off. SOLUTION: A user enters into contract with a wireless service provider in order to obtain automatic call forwarding services. Preferably, a subscriber record for a mobile telephone is occupied by telephone numbers of telephones forwarded by a call transfer activation field, and a call forwarding telephone number field (referred to as a transfer number field also). The method for the call forwarding comprises the steps of (A) detecting that a mobile goes out of services; and (B) automatically forwarding a call of a telephone of the mobile to a telephone of forwarding destination when the mobile goes out of services.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide such a charging system that its charge is increased in the peak time of the number of calls and is reduced in the off-peak time of the number of calls. SOLUTION: A method for charging a call in a cellular mobile communication system includes a step for holding the records of the utilizing states of a channel in the region including one or more cells or sectors; a step for reporting to the mobile stations present in a region that a call is made possible at a lower charge than usual ones, when the low occupation factor of a radio channel is sensed in the region; and a step for recording the fact that the charge of the call is made low, in the charge record relative to the call. In this case, the charge record includes the information whereby a charge processor can make its charge low to the call. The method can be used in a reverse mode. That is, the subscriber to the call plan of a low cost is informed of the time when the charge rate of a call is increased, by the reason that the capacity of a usable radio channel has been decreased.

Abstract: The present invention provides a method for providing automatic call-forwarding to a mobile unit. The mobile unit is registered as an automatic call- forwarding number for a first phone. The first phone can be a landline phone or a wireless phone. Upon detection of the mobile unit coming into service, calls intended for the first phone are automatically forwarded to the mobile phone. This call-forwarding occurs automatically without further input from a user. Upon detection of the mobile unit going out of service, such as when the mobile unit powers off or leaves the service area of the wireless service provider, the automatic call forwarding to the mobile phone is terminated.
