Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To use a packet network such as an ATM link and the like or a link for providing maintenance of call control for a roaming mobile unit at a gateway mobile switching centre(MSC). SOLUTION: A base station, in addition to specifying a particular address (or channel) referred to as a data link connection identifier(DLCI) on PHV, provides a gateway MSC with a packet address to be used as an address for a voice packet that is received by a roaming mobile unit from the gateway MSC (though a serving MSC), thereby forming a full duplex packet link. The packet link becomes a voice path between the base station and serving MSC and the gateway MSC, and all communications to and from the roaming unit are routed through the gateway MSC. Thereby, the gateway MSC maintains control on all calls about the roaming mobile unit so as to perform enhanced call functions such as call waiting and third party call and the like.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system with a home system for roaming as a base by connecting a radio equipment to a first packet network interface means and a second packet network interface means to the other equipment of the home system. SOLUTION: A call is set by the control of a home exchange station (MTSO) 1 and a voice handler 18 is allocated to the call and is connected to a public exchange telephone network. A packet address is sent to MTSO 2. The packet handler 42 of a packet exchange 35 transmits/receives the packet to/from the radio equipment 90. In the case of an opposite direction, the radio equipment 90 calls a telephone set 80, MTSO 2 refers to the list of a roaming place and sends call setting request information to MTSO 1 of the radio equipment. MTSO 1 allocates the voice handler 18 and MTSO 2 sends the packet address of the voice handler 18 to the packet exchange 35 and the packet handler 42. Then, the packet is sent to a cell 64.

According to this system, a device which communicates by using an old version of protocol can receiver a message including a parameter which has an expanded encoding field. The device performs reading processing of the parameter which has encoding that indicates a command by the old protocol.

Abstract: This invention provides a method and apparatus for associating call data with particular users instead of line ports. This call data includes the last incoming and outgoing calls associated with a particular number. This allows the services such as automatic callback, automatic recall, and customer originated trace to be implemented with dynamic line assignment allowing users to maintain the same level of subscribed services at different locations. For mobile users, automatic callback, automatic recall, and customer originated trace can be implemented at the home mobile switching center as well as roaming mobile switching centers. If the mobile user is roaming, updating the call history of the mobile station at the new mobile switching center allows the mobile user to experience seamless services across a large territory.

Abstract: A system for expanding a parameter encoding field in a new communications protocol that is compatible with an old protocol. An unused command parameter in an old protocol is used to indicate an expanded parameter encoding field in a new protocol. Parameter encodings from the old protocol are unchanged in the new protocol.
