Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of dynamic decision for interference and the ratio of carrier to interference waves in a wireless system of time division multiple access. SOLUTION: In the method of dynamic decision for interference and the ratio of carrier to interference waves, the interferences are measured during an active TDMA time slot. In an embodiment, while a mobile station is transmitting in a discontinued transmission mode, a base station decides the level of the interference at the active time slot by using a power level measurement processed in a DTX OFF period. In another embodiment, the base station instructs to the mobile station to stop transmission between SACCH parts of the time slot, and decides measured value of the interference level 1 by using the power level measurement processed for non-active SACCH field. Furthermore in another embodiment, the interference level 1 is decided by using the power level measurement processed for a guard and a ramp field.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide operation information for a traffic radio which serves active channels by scanning the active channels of a base station. SOLUTION: Active channels of a base station are scanned by measuring radio 614 (614A, 614B) to measure operation information of radio 612A to N, i.e., the signal intensity, BER(bit error rate), FER(frame error rate), signal-to- interference radio (C/I), etc. According to the operation information, the traffic radio 612A to N determine whether or not the method for servicing the active channels is to be changed or not. For example, when difference antenna sets 620A to N can be switched, the measuring radio 614 scans active sound/data channels by using an antenna set different from the current antenna set to serve the active channels and determines the operation information regarding a received signal. The measuring radio 614 can determine operation information on an operation coefficients, parameters, settings, etc., and change the active channels that the traffic radio 612A to N are using.

Abstract: A measurement radio system uses a measurement radio to scan active channels of a base station and produce operating information for the traffic radios servicing the active channels. The measurement radio can produce operating information, such as signal strength, bit error rate (BER), frame error rate (FER) and signal to interference ratio (C/I), which is used to determine whether to change the manner in which the tragic radio is servicing the active channel. For example, if the measurement radio can switch between different sets of antennas, the measurement radio can scan an active voice/data channel using a different set of antennas than the traffic radio is using to service the active channel and determine operating information related to the signal received over the active channel using the different set of antennas. The traffic radio can use the operating information to determine whether to hand off the active channel to the different set of antennas. The measurement radio can determine operating information, such as operating coefficients, parameters or settings, to change how the traffic radio services the active channel.

Abstract: A measurement radio system (610) uses a measurement radio (614A)to scan active channels of a base station and produce operating information for the traffic radios (612A-N) servicing the active channels. The measurement radio can produce operating information, such as signal strength, bit error rate (BER), frame error rate (FER) and signal to interference ratio (C/I), which is used to determine whether to change the manner in which the traffic radio is servicing the active channel. For example, if the measurement radio can switch between different sets of antennas (620A-i), the measurement radio can scan an active voice/data channel using a different set of antennas than the traffic radio is using to service the active channel and determine operating information related to the signal received over the active channel using the different set of antennas. The traffic radio can use the operating information to determine whether to hand off the active channel to the different set of antennas. The measurement radio can determine operating information, such as operating coefficients, parameters or settings, to change how the traffic radio services the active channel.
