Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the preventive effect of wavy ringing and the reducing effect of frequency dependance of convergence by specifying the ratio of the self-inductance of a pair of saddle-form vertical deflecting coils connected in series each other, and the resistance values of resistances connected in parallel to both vertical deflecting coils respectively. CONSTITUTION:The ratio P (=L/R) of the self-inductances L (mH) of a pair of saddle-form vertical deflecting coils 1 and 2 connected in series each other to the resistance values R (kOMEGA) of resistances 12 and 13 connected in parallel to the vertical deflecting coils 1 and 2 respectively is made 3 to 40. When the P value exceeds 40, the Q dumping effect of the vertical deflecting coils 1 and 2 is increased, while the frequency dependent property of convergence is reduced. And when the P value is less than 3, the effect of the Q dumping is reduced, making liable to generate a wavy ringing, and the frequency dependent property of convergence is increased. Consequently, the generation of wavy ringing can be prevented sufficiently, and the frequency dependent property of convergence can be reduced sufficiently.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To suppress positive trilemma in a picture area when used in combination with a frame aberration correcting coil by connecting in parallel a pair of raster distortion correcting coils with each of which a single diode is connected in series in such a manner that their respective diodes are facing in opposite directions. CONSTITUTION:A vertical deflection current flows through an upper coil 6 only when a specific voltage + V0 or over is retained. Thus, when this voltage level is not retained, no pin-cushion type magnetic field is generated by the coil 6, causing only the barrel distortion of diametrical magnetic field to be weakened with the resulting reduced positive trilemma (intersection of R and B beams) in the upper half of a picture area 1. Also, a vertical deflection current flows through a lower coil 8 only when a diode connected in opposite direction stays ON i.e., -V0 or less is retained, causing positive trilemma to be reduced in the lower half of the area I. With voltage level being +V0 or over, an element 5 is activated and a pin-cushion magnetic field is produced, making it possible to correct pin-cushion distortion in the upper portion of the raster and negative trilemma in an upper picture area II. With voltage level being -V0 or less, an element 7 is activated for correction in a similar manner. The continuity time for the coils 6, 7 is established through selecting of characteristics of the elements 6, 7, series count, and value of a resistance 9.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To correct misconvergence in the vertical and horizontal directions and reduce shape distortion of a beam spot by allowing only positive half cycle of vertical deflecting current to flow in a coil wound on No.1 channel-shaped core of a corrective mag. field generator, and by permitting only negative half cycle to flow in a coil wound on No.2 channel-shaped core. CONSTITUTION:A corrective mag. field generator consists of No.1 and No.2 channel-shaped core 15a, 15b and coils 16a, 16b wound on them. Half cycle component of the vertical deflection current flowing into a vertical deflection coil 18 from a vertical deflection output circuit 19 flows in the coil 16a while the remaining half cycle component in the other coil 16b. In the period the upper half of a fluorescent surface is scanned with electron beam, corrective mag. field in barrel tendency is generated only between the two legs of the lower core 15b, and a force F directed outward is applied to electron beams on the two sides. In the period the lower half of the fluorescent surface is scanned, on the other hand, vertical correction mag. field in barrel tendency is alike generated only between the two legs of the upper core 15b.
