Abstract: PURPOSE:To protect the fusing portion from a crack, by heating a portion of a glass bulb then performing the press molding on said portion, while cooling with a press mold. CONSTITUTION:A portion of a glass bulb 1 is heated and the heated portion is press molded while cooling with a press mold 8, then a stem 3 is fused at the end of the bulb 1. Said press mold 8 is enclosing, for example, a pipe 9 for flowing the cooling water. Consequently, the fusing portion is brought to the temperature lower than the distortion point of glass through cooling, while the temperature rise of the press mold is prevented and the permanent thermal distortion will never remain at the fusing portion thereby the fusing portion can be protected from crack.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To make the treatment exceedingly safe by separating and removing enclosed mercury in such a way that a capsule enclosed sulfur particle in a fluorescent lamp tube is provided, the capsule is disclosed at the time of waste disposal by heating the lamp. CONSTITUTION:A glass made capsule 1 enclosed a desired amount of mercury, a capsule 2 made of glass which is enclosed sulfur particle are enclosed in a glass tube 5, which is retained by metal rings 3, 3' covering around electrode filaments, and metal fine wires 4, 4' are provided in contact with the capsule surfaces. When making waste disposal of fluorescent lamp, in concurrence of disclosing the capsule 2 through high frequency treatment with reacting mercury oxide with sulfur under heat, it becomes mercury sulfide which is excceedingly hard in its solubility in water and chemically stable, separating removal can be done surely, and waste disposal can be done exceedingly safe.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To safety manufacture an annular fluorescent lamp at a high speed by using a mercury contained metal capsule for controlling the quantity of sealed mercury. CONSTITUTION:A stem 9 with an exhaust pipe 8 is sealed on the end of the bulb 7 of an annular fluorescent lamp and a metal capsule 5 is hooked and housed in the exhaust pipe 8. A concave 10 and a collar 11 for holding the bulb are provided at the sealing section of the bulb 7 over all circumferences when the annular fluorescent lamp is molded. Part of this collar 11 is enclosed by the high frequency heating coil 12 of a high frequency induction heater. The metal capsule 5 is high-frequency-heated and opened, and mercury 4 is sealed in the bulb 7.
