Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the impurities left in trace in a carbonate powder and the impurities included in the preparing process of a suspension by executing a solid-liquid separating process for reducing particles insoluble to an organic solvent to a cathode raw material suspension to be applied to a cathode gas metal, which contains a carbonate, a binder and the organic solvent, and includes particles insoluble to the organic solvent. SOLUTION: A binder is dissolved in an organic solvent, and impurities in the binder is separated and reduced by filtering at a reduced pressure of 500-600 mmHg. An alkali earth metal carbonate powder is mixed to the organic solvent containing the resulting binder to manufacture a suspension. The suspension is further filtered to filter the impurities contained in the carbonate powder and the impurities included in the preparing process of the suspension. The suspension from which the impurities are reduced is applied onto a cathode base metal by means of spray or electrodeposition. Thus, the solid foreign matter in a cathode forming the electron radiation source of electron beam of a cathode-ray tube can be reduced.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cathode-ray tube of a long service life, high performance and high reliability by releasing impure gas contained in pellets after forming a metal coating film. SOLUTION: A flange part 22 is opened to lead a boat 26 with pellets 25 placed thereon, into a pressure reduced container made of heat resistant glass or ceramic, and the periphery of the boat 26 is heated by an annular heater 27. Gas released by heating is exhausted by a vacuum pump 23 through a small- diameter tube 24. The temperature of the heater 27 is controlled by a temperature controller and furnace power source 28. The argon content in pellets 25 can thereby be made to a trace quantity. Specifically, the argon content can be reduced to 2×10-5 (Pa/l) as released gas per pellet in conversion per unit volume of the internal volume of a vacuum container of a device using a negative electrode, so that an initial emission fall rate can be suppressed to 5% or less.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method for a cathode-ray tube to realize a long lifetime of a heater and stable production by ensuring uniformity of an alumina insulating layer and stability of a suspension for electrodeposition. SOLUTION: This is a manufacturing method of a cathode-ray tube that a heater 2, which is made by forming an alumina insulating layer 4 made of alumina powders on a metallic wire 3 as a heater main metal by means of an electrophoresis, is provided inside a cathode part of an electron gun. Alumina powders are suspended in a fixed liquid to form a suspension for electrodeposition after cleaning the alumina powders with warm running water, and the alumina insulating layer 4 made of alumina powders is formed on the metallic wire 3 by means of an electrophoresis.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an impregnated cathode of high quality, having a required tensile strength without generating a foreign body and the like on an electron emission surface by carrying a pulsed current at least twice during a resistance welding, and by taking a quiescent time after carrying the pulsed current before carrying the next pulsed current. SOLUTION: A welding current, having a welding time of 2 to 9msec. and a peak value I1, is carried as a first pulsed current from a cathode sleeve in a matrix direction. After a quiescent time of 30 to 200msec., a welding current having a welding time of 2 to 9msec and a peak value I2, greater than a peak value I1, is flowed as a second pulsed current to perform a resistance welding. This connects a bottom side part of a matrix-covering component, covering a matrix to a top side part of the cathode sleeve through a supporting wire.
