Abstract: PURPOSE:To perform speed change with no shift shock and little clutch load by modifying a speed change pattern according to the difference between the measured value of the net average effective pressure and the predictor of the net average effective pressure at the time of the speed change pattern being set. CONSTITUTION:A speed change control means A controls the speed change of an automatic transmission 1 to be in the speed change stage based on the speed change pattern M preset according to the vehicle running state such as the vehicle speed and engine load. An output measuring means B deducts the unloaded frictional loss average effective pressure from the average effective pressure of an engine 2 detected by a cylinder inner pressure sensor 20 so as to obtain the net average effective pressure. According to the difference between this net average effective pressure and the predictor of the net average effective pressure corresponding to engine output at the time of the speed change pattern M being set, a modifying means C modifies the speed change pattern M so as to correct the speed change timing at the speed change control means A into the optimum state. The speed change with no shift shock and little clutch load can be thus performed accurately.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To secure a high output of power even in a medium-speed range, by installing a pressure wave reflecting chamber in a suction passage at the side of an on-off valve via a valve in addition to one that secures a high output point by means of good use of a pressure wave upon installing the on-off valve in one of the two-system suction passages. CONSTITUTION:Two-system suction passages 11 and 12 are formed with a partition wall 10, then an on-off valve 13 is installed in one of them, and a large capacity chamber 15 is interconnected to the downstream suction passage via a valve 17. At an engine high-speed range, each of suction pressure selector valves 29 and 30 is operated by the output of a control unit 32, opening the on- off valve 13, and a high output of power is secured in good use of a pressure wave at a high-speed specific engine speed. When the valve 17 is opened so as to make the pressure wave utilizable at the medium engine speed range, the pressure wave inside the suction passage 12 is made to be reflected at an opening part of the chamber 15. With this constitution, the high output of power by means of good use of the pressure wave is securable so extensive a range.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To promote the evaporation or atmization of a fuel and to prevent the deterioration of the running performance, by converting either the injection starting time or the injection finishing time to make the fuel injection period in the suction stroke shorter at the returning time of the exhaust gas than at no returning time of it. CONSTITUTION:In a control unit 48 to control the fuel injection by a fuel injection valve 38, an injection amount arithmetic device 48a is provided to compute the basic injection amount depending on the outputs of an airflow meter 30 and a crank angle sensor. And, a correction device 48b give the acceleration correction, the warming up correction, and the like to the basic injection amount is provided. Furthermore, an EGR arithmetic device 48c to compute the exhaust gas returning amount depending on the outputs of a boost sensor 36 and crank sensors. Responding to the exhaust gas returning amount, the fuel injection period from the fuel injection valve 38 is corrected by a fuel injection period correcting device 48d, to be shorter than at the no returning time.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent the generation of a recovery shock with no occurrence of an engine stop, by injecting fuel in a stroke except the intake stroke of an engine when it is recovered from a fuel cut in the deceleration time, when fuel is supplied in the time of an intake stroke. CONSTITUTION:An engine control unit 15 calculates a fuel injection amount from an injector 8 on the basis of detection values of air flow meter 5, crank angle sensor, throttle valve opening sensor 7, water temperature sensor 9, etc., and fuel is injected synchronously with the crank angle sensor when each cylinder is placed in an intake stroke. A throttle valve 6 is fully closed, further when an engine speed is in a predetermined value or more, a deceleration time fuel cut is performed, but when the engine speed decreases to a fuel cut engine speed or less, injection is restarted except in the intake stroke by 360 deg. advancing the ordinary injection timing.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To optimize a shift shock reducing function by compensation a setting retard value, lowering engine power as much as a fixed quantity at time of gear shifting, on the basis of a combustion chamber pressure being detected by a pressure detecting means. CONSTITUTION:A retard value setting means 2 is provided with a retard value necessary for reducing any shift shock against a mounted engine 1, and at time of gear shifting, it advances or delays ignition timing by a timing delay control means 3 on the basis of this setting retard value, lowering the extent of engine (1) power. In this case, actual combustion chamber pressure of the engine 1 is detected by a pressure detecting means 4 at time of vehicle running, and on the basis of this detected value, a compensating means 5 compensates the setting retard value of the retard value setting means 2. Thus, a shift shock reducing function at time of gear shifting is properly securable.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve a fuel consumption characteristic particularly in a high speed zone by reducing the valve opening period of an intake valve at the time of carrying out a constant speed traveling control even in a high speed zone, in a control for varying an intake air charging rate by reducing the valve opening period in a low speed zone while increasing the valve opening period in a high speed zone. CONSTITUTION:A valve driving mechanism 1 has a low speed cam 2 which reduce the valve opening period of an intake valve and a high speed cam 3 which increases the valve opening period and the cam for driving the intake valve is switched by means of an actuator 4. In this case, the actuator 4 is controlled by a controller 5 according to an engine speed information from an engine speed sensor 6 and an operation mode signal indicating whether the automatic control of constant speed traveling is under way or not from a constant speed traveling device 7. That is, the actuator 4 is controlled so as to select the low speed cam 2 when an engine is judged in a low speed zone while to select the high speed cam 3 when judged in a high speed zone, and to select the low speed cam 2 when the engine is in the high speed zone while the constant speed traveling control is under way.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To aim at reconciling the enhancement of fuel economy and the lowering of exhaust gas temperature with no knocking occurring, by suitably combining the recirculation of exhaust gas and the advance of ignition timing when an engine is driven in a steady state condition at a high rotational speed or in a high load condition. CONSTITUTION:A control unit 17 receives signals from an automatic cruising switch 18, a throttle opening sensor 19, and a rotational speed sensor 20, and delivers a signal for leaning the air fuel ratio to a fuel injection valve 10, a signal for increasing the flow rate of exhaust gas recirculation to an exhaust gas recirculation valve 16 and a signal for compensating the advance of ignition timing to a distributor 12. As a result, the maximum combustion pressure and maximum combustion temperature may be lowered while it is possible to prevent the temperature of exhaust gas from being raised due to after-burning. Accordingly, it is possible to reconcile the enhancement of fuel economy and the lowering of exhaust gas temperature with no knocking occurring.
