Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To maintain a specific reflectance even though a reflecting body is allowed to stand continuously under high temperature environment by improving stability in the high temperature environment by a method wherein a side to a polymeric film composed of at least a transparent polymeric film and a silver thin film layer is made a reflecting surface. SOLUTION: A reflecting body is composed of at least one metal layer 20 selected from titanium, tungsten, or copper on a transparent polymeric film 10, and a silver thin film layer 30 on the metal layer 20. The metal layer 20 is between the transparent polymeric film 10 and the silver thin film layer 30. Such the reflecting body can improve stability of the silver thin film under the high temperature environment. Thereby, even after the reflecting body is heated in the air at 150 deg.C temperature for 500h, a reflectance of at least 90% can be obtained.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reproduce light degradation occurring in back light unit lighting test of a silver reflector in a short time by radiating visible light obtained from pseudo solar light with ultraviolet rays removed to a reflector to be tested. SOLUTION: Light from a visible light source 10 for generating light in a visible range of wavelength of 380 to 780nm is passed through an ultraviolet ray removing filter 20 for removing ultraviolet light substantially having a wavelength of 360nm or less to remove ultraviolet rays, and light with radiated light intensity preferably of 100mW/cm -700mW/cm is radiated to a reflector 30 using silver. At this time the reflector 30 is heated by a temperature adjusting stage 30 to a predetermined temperature of 60 deg.C-150 deg.C for example and kept at this temperature. Thus light degradation caused in a lamp reflector for a back light unit of a liquid crystal display device can be reproduced in an extremely short time, so that light degradation of the reflector 30 can to efficiently studied.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To observe state of a polymer surface in the air with an atomic force microscope(AFM), by treating the surface by means of plasma including a metal mainly composed of titanium. SOLUTION: In treating a polymer surface by means of plasma including a metal, for instance, titanium, vanadium or the like is used as the metal, but titanium is preferred because of its affinity to carbon and oxygen and availability. The polymer surface may be a film sheet or other kinds of bulk. The polymer is, e.g. polyethylene terephthalate or the like. Sputtering, etc. is employed as an example of a method of treating the polymer surface. It is not necessary to form a physical continuous film to the metal of the surface subjected to the surface treatment by plasma including the metal. Whether the metal actually adheres to the surface is checked, for example, by X-ray photo-electron spectroscopy or the like.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To remarkably improve the heat resistance of a reflecting body with the use of silver by using an amorphous oxide layer which is formed by a spattering method in a high oxygen concentration atmosphere and composed mainly of indium and tin between a transparent polymer film and a silver thin film layer. SOLUTION: A reflecting body is formed by a method in which an oxide (ITO) layer 20 which is made mainly from indium and tin, a silver thin film layer 30, an adhesive layer 40, and a support 50 are laminated on a transparent polymer film 10. With regard to the polymer film 10, films of poly(ether sulphone), poly(ether ether ketone), polyimide, polycarbonate, and polyarylate which are transparent and can stand continuous service at not less than 150 deg.C. are used. As for the ITO film 20, in a spattering method, the partial pressure ratio of argon/oxygen which are spattering gas is adjusted so that oxygen is made greater than an argon/oxygen partial pressure ratio where specific resistance is made minimum, and it is preferable that the ITO film of at least 1×10 Ω.cm specific resistance is formed.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To obtain a back light having high efficiency and little fluctuation of luminance in the plane by using a reflecting member made of a reflecting body comprising a transparent polymer film, silver thin film layer, adhesive layer and thermoplastic polymer substrate which has a shape keeping property. CONSTITUTION: The reflecting body consists of a transparent polymer film 10, silver thin film layer 20, adhesive layer 30, and polymer substrate 40 successively formed in this order. The polymer substrate 40 has a shape keeping property. The reflecting body in this case has an effect to reflect light which enters the body to the original medium and to reflect 80% or more of light in the visible ray region to the original medium and has a shape keeping property. When light enters through the transparent polymer film 10, most of the light is transmitted through the transparent polymer film 10 to the silver thin film layer 20, then reflected on the silver thin film layer 20, transmitted through the transparent polymer film 10 and returned to the original medium.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide a light resistant matte reflector by regulating total reflectivity measured from a main surface on which a silver thin film layer is not formed to at least specified value and regulating diffusion reflectivity to a range of specified value in a film in which the silver thin film layer has been formed on one of the main surfaces of one side of a polymer film having ray transmittance not exceeding at most specified value in specified wavelength and substantially interrupting ultraviolet rays. CONSTITUTION:The optical characteristics of a polymer film 10 in which a silver thin film layer 20 has been formed on one of the main surface by a vacuum deposition method are so regulated that the ray transmittance in 380-300nm wave length is =85% and the cloudness value is in a range within 2-7%. Interruption characteristics of ultraviolet rays and optical characteistics are controlled by adding solid material having a suitable ultraviolet ray absorptivity into the polymer film 10 and adding an additive when the cloudness value is insufficient. The total reflectivity measured from the other main surface on which the silver thin film layer 20 is not formed is >=93% and the diffusion reflectivity is 4-14%. In the case of using a matte reflective film by bonding it to a molding, an adhesive sticky layer is provided on the surface of the silver thin film layer 20.
