PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make possible a communication of an encrypted identification number without increasing a burden for a user of a subscriber unit and without making excessive delay occur in the start of service. SOLUTION: In the messaging method, a messaging key associated with a subscriber unit reference number is imparted to a subscriber unit (105) and an infra-communication center (101) (203, 403). Next, an identification key and/or an identifier of the subscriber unit (105) is generated by either the subscriber unit (105) or the infra-communication center (101) (300, 407). The identification key and/or the identifier is encrypted with the messaging key (207, 413) and next communicated between the subscriber unit (105) and the infra-communication center (101) (209, 415). A system and method for processing information about an incident is provided. The system comprises two or more communication devices (104, 112-126) in communication with each other and a central authority (128) capable of receiving data from the communication devices. Each communication device (104, 112- 126) includes a media sensor (222) to collect data relating to an incident event (102). One communication device (104), in response to a user activation input, transmits a request signal to one or more other communication devices (112-126). Any communication device (112-126) that receives the request signal may collect data relating to the incident event (102) in response to the request signal. The central authority (128), after receiving the data collected by the wireless communication devices (104, 112-126), performs an action in response to receiving the data.

A method and apparatus provides for a subscriber device (106) to signal changing from a first network to a second network including receiving via a transceiver (120) at the subscriber device (106) a time value from another network and generating from a clock (124) at the subscriber device (106) a current time value and then using a controller (126) deriving a delta time value between the time value and the current time value. The controller (126) signals the user when the delta time value between the time value and the current time value changes.

The storing mechanism includes at least one electrically erasable, programmable gate array containing a portion of the cipher algorithm and at least one random access memory device coupled to the array for storing digital data generated by the algorithm. A mechanism which is coupled to the gate array and memory device controls the execution of the algorithm for each digital word thereby decrypting encrypted digital words and encrypting non-encrypted digital words.
