Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To use a thermostabilizing microcapsule containing a heat absorbing crystal compound for protecting a cosmetic or a medicine composition against an action of heat change. SOLUTION: A thermostabilizing microcapsule containing at least one crystal compound exhibiting 75-330 kJ/kg melt enthalpy (ΔHf) measured by differential scanning calorimetry so as to protect a cosmetic or a medicine from an action of heat change is used. This cosmetic or medicine composition contains the thermostabilizing microcapsule. The microcapsule contains preferably a partially or wholly crystalline compound in a coating free from leakage and absorbs a large amount of heat known as a latent heat of fusion when heated to a temperature close to the melting point of the compound. Consequently, the temperature of the present environment of the microcapsule can be automatically controlled in a temperature range close to the melting point of the compound regardless of the change of external temperature for a fixed time.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the activity or penetration of active components of a cosmetic or medicine by using a thermally stabilized microcapsule. SOLUTION: This thermally stabilized microcapsule is a composition for local use containing the following combination in a physiologically permissible supporting material: at least one active ingredient of the cosmetic or medicine, and a microcapsule containing at least 1 crystalline compound having 75-330 kJ/kg heat of melting (ΔHf) measured by a differential thermal analysis and exhibiting a melting point of >=30 deg.C. The microcapsule contains a partially or totally crystalline compound capable of absorbing a large amount of heat, known as a latent heat of melting in the case that the temperature becomes close to its melting point, in an outer cover without having a leak. The reason that the temperature of the compound is stable, even though heat energy is supplied to the compound, is due to the absorption of the heat by the above latent heat of melting.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject nanocapsule capable of dramatically improving the stability of retinol especially in the absence of an antioxidant by including a specific lipid center and a specific polymeric envelope. SOLUTION: This nanocapsule comprises (A) a lipid center forming or containing a lipophilic active ingredient and (B) a continuous polymeric water- insoluble polymeric envelope. The ingredient B contains a poly(alkylene adipate) type at least one kind of a linear or a branched polyester containing (i) a unit derived from adipic acid and (ii) one or more kinds of alkanediols and/or one or more kinds of ether diols and/or one or more kinds of triols. The mass- average molecular weight of the polyester forming the ingredient B measured by a gel permeation chromatography is preferably 2,000-50,000. The average size of the nanocapsule is preferably 50-800 nm.
