SOLUTION: This moisture-curable cosmetic composition contains either of the following compounds (i) and (ii) in a non-aqueous medium not containing an unstable hydrogen atom and capable of being accepted as a cosmetic solvent. (i). (a) At least one first compound containing at least two non-blocked reactive functional groups X, and (b) at least one second compound containing at least two blocked reactive functional groups Y which can be unblocked by the action of water to react with the unblocked reactive functional groups X of the compound A. (ii). At least one compound simultaneously containing at least two non-blocked reactive functional groups X and at least two blocked reactive functional groups Y which can be unblocked by the action of water to react with the unblocked reactive functional groups X of the compound A. It is necessary that the average functionality of the system is strictly larger than 2.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject composition capable of providing relief makeup on keratin substance while exhibiting good retaining property with the passage of time and useful as nail varnish, etc., by including a coating film-forming polymer and a specific coloring material into a medium permissible to cosmetics. SOLUTION: This makeup composition for cosmetics comprises (B) preferably 1-70 wt.%, more preferably 10-40 wt.% coating film-forming polymer, preferably vinyl polymer and (C) preferably 0.5-30 wt.%, more preferably 3-20 wt.% (expressed in terms of coating film fragment) coloring material having substantially flat two faces, 40-200 μm thickness and 0.1-4 mm length and containing at least one colored polymer coating film fragment which is insoluble to (A) a medium permissible to cosmetic in the component A. The colored coating film fragment of the component C is preferably obtained from a polymer coating film selected from acrylic polymer, etc.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an reinforced brush suitable for applying nail polish in an aqueous medium. SOLUTION: This brush with a tuft 2 of nearly paralleled hard bristles 3 fixed to the free end 4a of a rod 4 is for applying a make-up material or cosmetic product. The surfaces of the hard bristles 3 of the tuft 2 are impregnated with a partly acetylated polyvinyl alcohol including at least the units of the formula 1 and the formula 2. The units in the formulas exist in the range from 3 mol.% to 40 mol.% of the ratio to polymers, and the polyvinyl alcohol has from 10,000 to 190,000 weight average molecular weight.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject composition which can reduce time for drying without using a specific additive or the like by including nitrocellulose, cellulose ester and dye in a specific ratio. SOLUTION: This manicure composition is obtained by including, in a solvent medium (e.g. methyl ethyl ketone), (A) a cellulose ester, preferably cellulose acetate, acetopropionate, acetobutyrate or the like, (B) nitrocellulose, and, as required, (C) an additional film-forming polymer (e.g. polyvinyl butyral) at below 50 wt.% based on the total weight of the components A and B, and (D) a dye (e.g. titanium dioxide and manganese violet). It is preferable that cellulose acetobutyrate or acetopropionate as the component A is included at 10 to 80 wt.%, and the component B at 1.5 to 35 wt.%, both based on the total weight of the components A and B. It is also preferable that the component D is included at 0.001 to 10 wt.%, based on the whole composition.
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cosmetic composition having an interference color developing effect and capable of giving lustrous makeup, especially, a manicure. SOLUTION: This cosmetic composition contains particles of a liquid crystal polymer in a cosmetically acceptable medium, wherein the liquid crystal polymer is obtained by polymerizing a monomer mixture comprising (a) at least one of a first monomer A and (b) at least one of a second monomer B with chirality. A beauty method for making up a keratinous substance comprises applying the composition to the keratinous substance. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO

SOLUTION: The objective thermally crosslinkable cosmetic composition comprises (a) at least one compound selected from compounds bearing at least two functional groups including reactive hydrogen atoms and (b) at least one compound selected from compounds bearing at least two thermally deblockable blocked isocyanate functional groups where the average functionality, namely the total number of the reactive hydrogen-including functional groups and the blocked isocyanate functional groups is exactly made larger than 2 to the total number of the molecules of the compounds (a) and (b). In this cosmetic composition, the reactive cosmetic components can be stored in the same vessel and they are allowed to crosslink with each other, when it is applied.
