    Abstract: The lamp has a discharge vessel in a form of an elongate tube. A conductive metallic shield plate (10) partially surrounds the discharge vessel, and leaves an angle of opening free for light radiation purpose during discharging process. A shielding face at a specific distance from outermost end of the vessel, limits the angle of opening of the shield, where the shield surrounds the vessel more than a half of its circumference. Independent claims are also included for the following : (a) an illumination system, comprising discharge lamp with a conductive metallic shield to partially surround the discharge vessel; (b) use of a discharge lamp as a UV radiator for the purpose of illuminating a catalyst.

    Abstract: The invention is directed to a lighting system comprising a Power Supply Unit and at least one Light Engine Module, with an interface between the Light Engine Modules and the Power Supply Unit. The Light Engine Modules send pulses representing their current demand to the Power Supply Unit adjusting the output current accordingly. The Light Engine Modules are connected in parallel, and the pulse sequences are sent at the same time. Measures are taken to cope with interfered pulses.
