Abstract: Systems and methods consistent with the present invention provide an interface to facilitate the communication between systems. A source system translates data into an XML format and transmits the data to a synchronizer interface tool. The synchronizer tool stores the data in a persistent intermediate storage, such as a queue, allowing the source system to go offline or perform other tasks while the data is transmitted to the target system. The synchronizer tool initiates the transmission of the data to the target system. If the target system indicates that it received the data, then the synchronizer tool sends an acknowledgement to the source system indicating the data was received. If the target system does not receive the transmission, the synchronizer tool maintains the data in the persistent intermediate storage and reinitiates transmission of the data to the target system.

Abstract: The present invention provides systems and methods for the distribution and billing associated with downloading data to a wireless device. In one embodiment, a distribution center having a Unified Application Management (UAM) system performs much of the processing intensive tasks associated with downloading applications to a wireless device. A server located at the carrier facility, e.g., an Application Download Server (ADS), performs that minimal processing necessary to download relevant application information and record transaction data. In this embodiment, the ADS does not contain a relational database and communicates transaction data and information associated with applications using Extensible Markup Language (XML). The structure of the XML files used for this communication may further be optimized to only require one-pass processing thus minimizing the processing requirements of the ADS. A transaction server processes transaction data for billing.

Un servidor ubicado en las instalaciones del agente, por ejemplo un servidor de descarga de aplicación (ADS) realiza ese mínimo procesamiento necesario para descargar información de la aplicación relevante y registrar los datos de la transacción. En esta forma de realización el ADS no contiene una base de datos por relación y comunica los datos de transacción y la información asociada con aplicaciones mediante el uso de XML. La estructura de los archivos XML utilizados para esta comunicación pueden además optimizarse para que solo requieran un procesamiento de un paso y por lo tanto minimizar los requerimientos del procesamiento del ADS. Un servidor de transacción procesa los datos de transacción para la facturación.

Más aún, por medio del uso de reglas y listas de permiso, de la aplicación de la eliminación de la aplicación, y de una técnica de detección de modificación, tal como de firmas digitales, la presente provee mecanismos para distribuir y ejecutar de manera segura aplicaciones probadas o no probadas, con el fin de determinar si la aplicación ha sido modificada, determinando si la misma ha tenido permiso para ejecutar en un determinado entorno de dispositivo inalámbrico, y eliminar la aplicación en el caso de que sea deseable hacerlo.
