Abstract: RCA 76,533 A frequency selective chrominance signal translating circuit for use in a color television receiver employing a comb filter is disclosed. The comb filter responds to switching signals for providing separate outputs from which the luminance and chrominance television signal components are derived. The translating circuit includes first and second cascaded, bandpass filters tuned to frequencies above the chrominance subcarrier frequency. The first filter receives comb filter output signals including desired chrominance signals and undesired components at the frequency of the comb filter switching signal. The circuit prevents unwanted high frequency components, particularly those associated with the comb filter switching signals, from reaching the color demodulators of the receiver, and translates signals from the chrominance output of the comb filter for supplying chrominance signals to color demodulators with a substantially symmetrical amplitude response and linear phase response as required for proper color demodulation.

Abstract: DC stabilization system for a color TV receiver includes three control loops, each including a keyed comparator for comparing a respectively different one of a set of blue, green and red color signals with a common reference voltage during keying periods determined by line rate keying of "backporch" timing pulses. The output of the keyed comparator responding to the blue signal adjusts the DC level of a luminance signal component used in color signal formation. The output of the keyed comparator responding to the red signal adjusts the DC level of an I color-difference signal component used for color signal formation. The output of the keyed comparator responding to the green signal adjusts the DC level of a Q color-difference signal used for color signal formation. The line rate keying pulse source is subject to field-rate blanking to preclude comparator keying during significant portion of received signal's vertical sync interval.

Abstract: A keying pulse generator for a color television burst gate provides a gutting pulse in response to horizontal synchronizing pulses when present and in response to horizontal retrace pulses when sync pulses are absent. A timing circuit is provided to maintain a constant width keying pulse independent of video signal condition and receiver operating characteristics.

Abstract: RCA 75,347 A circuit for generating a composite keying signal comprises a gate pulse generating circuit and a voltage translating network in a television receiver also including keyed video signal processing circuits. The composite keying signal comprises a first pulse developed by the translating network during horizontal blanking intervals of the video signal, and a second pulse developed by the gate circuit during a portion of the horizontal blanking intervals and superimposed on the first pulse. An output of the gate circuit is clamped during picture intervals to a fixed voltage via a low impedance clamping path that exhibits current conduction capability greater than the output current conduction capability of the gate pulse generating circuit. The clamping action prevents improper keying of the keyed circuits in response to false keying signals such as may be generated in response to spurious signals occurring during picture intervals of the television signal.

Abstract: - 19 - RCA 73,673 A combined phase shift and bandpass filter circuit in a color television receiver including color signal demodulators, and an automatic flesh tone correction network which provides a reference signal for the color demodulators, is disclosed. The circuit comprises an integral bandpass filter and phase shift network coupled between the output of the flesh tone correction network and the reference signal inputs of the demodulators. The circuit filters unwanted frequency components of the reference signal from the flesh correction network, and provides phase shifting of the reference signal as appropriate for proper operation of the demodulators. The circuit exhibits good phase stability, does not require alignment from receiver to receiver, and requires a minimum of connecting terminals to the flesh correction network and color demodulators.

Abstract: RCA 80,279 In a TV receiver, a line-rate gating pulse generator includes a source of line-rate timing pulses of "backporch" timing relative to the horizontal blanking intervals of received TV signals. Normally, the time constant of a capacitor charging circuit, enabled by the leading edge of each timing pulse, is determinative of a fixed, finite width for output gating pulses which are generated in response to the timing pulses. However, during the appearance of a field-rate pulse (e.g., vertical drive pulses, the charging circuit is altered such as to establish a zero width for the output gating pulses, resulting in a desired field-rate blanking of the line-rate gating pulse output.
