    Abstract: An optical disk recording apparatus includes an optical pickup (6) that emits laser light to illuminate a recording surface (2A) of an optical disk (2), receives reflected light resulting from the laser light reflected off the recording surface (2A), and generates a light reception signal based on the thus received reflected light; a laser power controller that sets a laser power setting and controls the power of the laser light emitted from the optical pickup based on the thus set laser power setting; and a signal generator (9) that, when a plurality of trial write areas provided on the recording surface of the optical disk are successively illuminated with the laser light in order to write trial write data, generates a timing notification signal that notifies laser arrival timing when the laser light sequentially reaches trial write start positions of the plurality of trial write areas based on the light reception signal generated by the optical pickup (6).

SOLUTION: In the front stage of an operational amplifier 36 which outputs the level-difference between first output signals AIN and DIN and second output signals BIN and CIN, clamp circuits 34A-34D, which mask a signal component at the level greater than the read level component included in the first and the second output signals, and high-pass filters 44A-44D, which have a cut-off frequency higher than the eccentric frequency and lower than the wobble frequency, are provided, thereby the eccentric level is reduced and the output gain of the operational amplifier 36 can be increased. Thus, the wobble signal is reproduced with a high quality.

    SOLUTION: The phase difference detection circuit for detecting the phase difference between first and second input signals includes: a leading edge phase shift direction detection circuit for detecting a phase shift direction between the leading edges of the first and second input signals; a trailing edge phase shift direction detection circuit for detecting a phase shift direction between the trailing edges of the first and second input signals; and a phase difference calculation circuit that calculates the phase difference between the first and second input signals for a period between the leading edges of the first and second input signals on the basis of the phase shift direction detected by the leading edge phase shift direction detection circuit, and calculates the phase difference between the first and second input signals for a period between the trailing edges of the first and second input signals on the basis of the phase shift direction detected by the trailing edge phase shift direction detection circuit.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make the start quick after buffer under-run errors are eliminated. SOLUTION: This circuit makes the recording power constant by inputting the detected output matching the light amount of the laser diode. It has a low frequency amplifier 49 to determine the response of the control loop to control the laser power, and this amplifier consists of a differential amplifier 47 and a low-pass filter 48 to maintain the output voltage of the differential amplifier at the same value (target value) as the one immediately before a buffer under- run error happens when there is no data to write. Since the laser power control voltage is supplied to the laser driver without changing when writing data and when there is a buffer under-run error, the laser power control voltage rises quickly to the target voltage even when starting again to write the data, and the waiting time is shortened before the start of data recording. Besides, the recording capacity is secured for the optical disk.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wobble signal extracting circuit and an optical disk recording/playing-back device which are coped with the high speed write-in, by reducing the noise component contained in wobble signal components. SOLUTION: In the wobble signal extracting circuit for extracting the wobble component during the recording operation from the optical disk whereon the wobble is formed in a guide groove, a 2nd sample-and-hold circuit 15 for sampling a write level signal is provided in parallel with a 1st sample-and-hold circuit 14 for sampling a read level signal, and output signals of these two sample-and-hold circuits are added by an adder 24 to extract the wobble signal component corresponding to the wobble formed in the guide groove in accordance with an output of the adder 24. By this procedure, since the wobble signal components having the same phase are simply added and the noise components having not the same phase are averaged, the ratio of the noise components to the wobble signal components is decreased.
