Abstract: An optical disk recording apparatus includes an optical pickup (6) that emits laser light to illuminate a recording surface (2A) of an optical disk (2), receives reflected light resulting from the laser light reflected off the recording surface (2A), and generates a light reception signal based on the thus received reflected light; a laser power controller that sets a laser power setting and controls the power of the laser light emitted from the optical pickup based on the thus set laser power setting; and a signal generator (9) that, when a plurality of trial write areas provided on the recording surface of the optical disk are successively illuminated with the laser light in order to write trial write data, generates a timing notification signal that notifies laser arrival timing when the laser light sequentially reaches trial write start positions of the plurality of trial write areas based on the light reception signal generated by the optical pickup (6).

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To write test-write data using respectively and effectively individual test-write region. Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a semiconductor laser evaluation apparatus capable of efficiently evaluating characteristics of a semiconductor laser such as a laser coupler from the standpoint of parameters employing its operating temperature.
SOLUTION: The semiconductor laser evaluation apparatus is provided with: an electric circuit for driving the laser coupler 10 and provided with a socket 20, an LDD board 52, and a control board 51; and a temperature control unit 30 including a temperature sensor 31 for obtaining temperature information of the laser coupler 10, and a temperature control circuit 32 for regulating the temperature of a hot plate 34, by using the temperature information by way of an exothermic/endothermic element 33 such as a peltier element. A heat transmission member 18 is located between the hot plate 34 and the laser coupler 10 while thermally coupling to them, and the temperature sensor 31 is located closest to the laser coupler 10. Thus, the temperature of the laser coupler 10 is quickly stabilized to a prescribed temperature with high accuracy, and prescribed characteristics of the laser coupler 10 can be obtained.
