    Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve the resolution of a low-resolution image by providing a low-resolution color display screen correspondingly to one eye of an observer, and providing a high-resolution monochromic display screen correspondingly to the other eye of the observer. CONSTITUTION:A color display screen 2 is synthesized by a collection of multiple color picture elements, e.g. red, green and blue picture elements, and provided correspondingly to the left eye 20 of an observer. A monochromic display screen 4 is constituted by a collection of monochromic picture elements and provided correspondingly to the right eye 40 of the observer. When the observer concurrently sees images of these two screens 2, 4, these images are synthesized in the head, and the observer recognizes a color image with the same resolution as that of the monochromic screen 4. When independent screens 2, 4 are provided for the left eye 20 and the right eye 40, the visibility can be adjusted for the left eye 20 and the right eye 40 when both eyes 20, 40 differ in eyesight.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide a unit for turning the power supply to a goggle type display ON, OFF automatically by detecting use/nonuse thereof. CONSTITUTION:A lens system 4, a liquid crystal display 5, a back light 6, a reflective element 7, and a reflected light detecting section 10 comprising light emitting and receiving elements are arranged in front of a goggle frame 1. The reflected light detecting section 10 compares the intensity of light detected through the light receiving element with a previously registered intensity of light reflected from eyeball. When the amount of detected light is within a previously registered range, the detecting section 10 delivers a power ON signal to a power supply section 9. Since the amount of detected light deviates from the registered range when the display is not used except flickering of eyelid (shorter than 2sec), the detecting section 10 delivers a power OFF signal to the power supply section 9 upon elapse of 2sec.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve accuracy of measuring an aberration of an optical element by detecting a position of an optical axis of the optical element with high accuracy.SOLUTION: An aberration measuring apparatus includes: a holding unit which holds an optical element serving as a test object; a light emitting unit which emits light to the optical element held by the holding unit; a light control element which emits the light passed through the optical element as convergent light; a light beam splitting element which splits the convergent light, emitted from the light control element, into multiple light beams so as to emit the light beams to be distributed at certain intervals in two dimensions; and a detection element which receives light emitted from the light beam splitting element and acquires, based on the light received, a state of an array of light receiving points of the light beams as array data. Based on the array data, a position of an optical axis of the optical element relative to the detection element is detected. Further, with reference to the optical axis detected, an aberration of the optical element is measured.

By making the movable group A1Fa a negative lens and the fixed group A1Fb a positive lens, the focal distance of the system is shortened and the viewing angle is expanded.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the small sized and light weight eyeglass type display device by adopting a nonaxial parabolic mirror for an optical path conversion means of an optical system. CONSTITUTION:A nonaxial parabolic mirror 21 is provided between a point light source 2 and a display screen 4, and an angle between an optical axis 7 of a light made incident on the nonaxial parabolic mirror 21 from the point light source 2 and an optical axis 22 of a light reflected from the nonaxial parabolic mirror 21 and made incident on a condenser lens 6 through the display screen 4 is almost at a right angle. Furthermore, the point light sources 2, the nonaxial parabolic mirrors 21, the display screens 4 and the condenser lenses 6 are arranged symmetrically to the left and right positions. Since the nonaxial parabolic mirror 21 acts like a collimator lens and a reflection mirror, the collimator lens have been required in a conventional display device is not required and since the optical path is bent, the distance in the direction of the optical axis 22 between the point light source 2 and the display screen 4 is reduced.
