    Abstract: There is provided a disk drive unit which is capable of making control corresponding to contaminant and defect by discriminating the contaminant (dust, scratch) on the disk surface from the defect on the recording plane. In a pull-in signal PI corresponding to reflected light from a disk, a defect detecting signal corresponding to a signal whose level change is relatively quick corresponding to the defect of the recording plane and a contaminant detecting signal which corresponds to a signal whose level change is relatively slow corresponding to the contaminant on the disk surface are generated. When the defect detecting signal is at low level for example, a system controller retries a recording operation or increases laser light when the contaminant detecting signal is at low level. A quantity of output light of a laser diode is controlled so that a product of output light of a laser diode and reflected light from the disk amounts to a predetermined level.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To prevent destruction of the recorded data even when a track excepting a target track is irradiated with a beam, by switching output of a laser resonator to reproducing use when an off-track due to external impact is detected at a recording time. CONSTITUTION: When a shock detection signal, that is, 'H' at the time when the off-track due to the external impact occurs is supplied from a shock detection circuit through a terminal 70 when a signal is recorded, a transistor Tr1 is turned on. Thus, a voltage value of a laser power control signal is lowered to a divided voltage value by resistors R22, R21, and an APC circuit 73 makes laser power of a laser diode LD reproducing power based on that. That is, since the power of the laser diode LD is switched from recording use to the reproducing use when the off-track due to the external impact occurs at the recording time in a laser drive circuit, the destruction of information already written on other track close to the target track is prevented in the optical disk device.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To stabilize focus setting without issuing the switching signal to a focusing servo by controlling a focusing error signal shutting out the light source of an optical system when an objective lens approaches to an optical disk surface (focus setting. CONSTITUTION:A focusing actuator 52 is driven by a setting driving signal S1 and an objective lens 53 mounted on the actuator 52 is driven so as to be approach to or separated from the surface of an optical disk 50. Focus setting action is executed by means of a focusing error signal SER1. When the lens 53 approaches to the surface of the disk 50, an emitting laser source 55 of the optical system 54 is shut out by the actuator 52 and when the lens 53 is separated from the surface of the dusk 50, the laser source 55 emits beams. Thus, at the time of falling of the saw-tooth wave of the driving signal S1, i.e., in the course in which the lens 53 approaches to the surface of the disk 50 the laser source 55 is turned off. In the meantime, focus setting action is executed and the state of the focusing servo is made stable.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a highly accurate distance signal which is not affected by a part where the reflectance, etc., is different from that at its surrounding area or a slope even when the part or slope exists on the surface of an object to be measured. CONSTITUTION:Light receiving elements 2A and 2B are arranged on a sensor substrate 1 at a prescribed interval. An optical reflecting plate 3 is erected between the elements 2A and 2B. A light emitting element 4 is provided in a titled state on the opposite side of the plate 3 with respect to the element 2A. The orientation of the element 4 is set so that the light from the element 4 can irradiate the reflecting surface of an object 5 to be measured and its vicinity intersecting a plane including the plate 3 when the object 5 is in the extent of measuring distances. A distance signal is formed by performing subtraction on the output signals of the elements 2A and 2B. Since reflected light rays from nearly same positions of the object 5 are made incident to the elements 2A and 2B, the light balance between the light rays made incident to the elements 2A and 2B is not lost and a highly accurate distance signal can be obtained even when a part where the reflectance is different from that at its surrounding area or a slope exists on the surface of the object 5.

SOLUTION: The disk drive generates a defect detection signal (e) which is made to correspond to a signal whose level change is relatively fast by being made to correspond to the defect on a recording surface and a dust detection signal (g) which is made to correspond to a signal whose level change is relatively slow by being made to correspond to the dust on the surface of a disk in the pull-in signal PI (a) made to correspond to the reflected light of the disk. Then, the system controller of the device performs the retry of a recording operation when the defect detection signal (e) is, for example, a low level and performs a control increasing a laser beam when the dust detection signal (g) is a low level. Moreover, the controller controls the outgoing light quantity of a laser diode so that the product of the outgoing light of the diode and the reflected light from the disk becomes a prescribed level.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide a voice information processing device in which characteristic voice outputs are easily obtained from voice inputs. CONSTITUTION:Male voice piece waveform data EW1 are extracted from voice compressed coded data M1 against a male voice input S1 by a feature extracting circuit 55 and are stored in a piece waveform data storage circuit 74 as piece waveform data EW2. When the data are used, a recognition output R1 against a female voice input S1 is voice-synthesized using the data EW2 by a voice data synthesizing circuit 67 and a synthesized output SY is made a voice output S2 by a voice compression decoding circuit 20. Since a conventional device is used for a voice information recording and reproducing device 51, a device is easily constituted to obtain a featured voice output S2 from the voice input S1. If the above scheme is applied to a telephone equipment, the voice input S1 of a female, who picks up a handset, is made the voice output S2 by a male voice and is transmitted to a receiving side.
