Abstract: A battery and an electronic apparatus are disclosed by which it can be discriminated with a simple configuration whether or not the battery is of a thin type. The battery is configured such that a wall portion for discrimination of a battery characteristic which is swollen in a lengthwise direction and connects to a connector section is formed at a location of one of end faces positioned rather near to an end portion in a widthwise direction of a case of the battery.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the parts of a switching power supply from excessively heating when the switching power supply is connected to an electronic transformer.
SOLUTION: The switching power supply is so designed as to convert an input voltage into a desired voltage and output it. If a control portion 130 detects that the input voltage has not reached a predetermined voltage when operation of a switching element is started, the control portion controls the operation of a driving portion 142 and causes it to stop the operation of the switching element in the switching element portion 143. Before the driving of the switching element is started, the output voltage of the electronic transformer is low. Therefore, when the switching power supply is connected to the electronic transformer, it is not driven, and its parts are prevented from excessively heating. When the switching power supply is connected to an AC outlet, the input voltage reaches the predetermined voltage. Therefore, the switching power supply can be properly operated.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To permit initial charging with a predetermined level of a current by limiting the level of a charging current with a limiting element during initial charging and controlling the mean value of a charging current to a specified value by controlling the switch element with a predetermined duty ratio. SOLUTION: When a battery pack 10 is connected to terminals T21 and 22, initial charging is first carried out. That is, by the output of port P23 , FET Q22 turns on, a port P21 becomes 0 and a port P22 changes to 0, 1 at a predetermined period. Then, in 1 period of the port P22 , the potential between the port P22 and the port P21 is divided by resistors R22 and R21 , and is supplied to a gate of FET Q21 . Thus, the battery 11 is charged with a predetermined level of current in 1 period of the port P22 , and charging is performed with a pulse current at a duty ratio of a level change of the port P22 with which a mean value is determined.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve the way of using by connecting an electronic equipment main body to a various kinds of external equipment by a simple operation by supplying a power source for driving via a terminal plate formed so as to be able to connect to the electronic equipment main body instead of a battery, and inputting/outputting a required signal. CONSTITUTION:A charger 1 supplies a commercial power source to a power source circuit 24 via a power cable 22, and supplies the power source outputted from the power source circuit 24 to an output control circuit 26. The circuit 26 outputs a power source for charge to power source terminals 18A, 18B reacting according to the operation of a change-over switch 28, and also, outputs a power source for driving camera integral type video tape recorder to a connection cable 30. Furthermore, the circuit 26 outputs the power source for charge or that for driving to a charge control circuit 38, thereby, the power source can be held at a prescribed voltage by controlling an oscillation part 40. In such a way, it is possible to easily charge the battery 2 by operating the change- over switch 28 after loading the battery 2 on the charger 1.

SOLUTION: A commercial AC power source is connected to a constant- current power circuit 11 through a power supply plug 12. Charging output (charging current) from the constant current power circuit 11 is connected to a positive charging terminal 13a. A ground end of the constant current power circuit 11 is connected to a negative charging terminal 13b through FETs 14, 15. The charging voltage Vc of the charging terminal 13a is detected at a microcomputer 18, for controlling, a charging control signal from the microcomputer 18 is supplied to the gate of the FET 14, and the control signal of the charging current is supplied to the constant current power circuit 11. For example, the charging current matching with a battery of a large size is first supplied to the charging terminal 13a, and the charging voltage Vc of the charging terminal 13a is detected. After the voltage Vc exceeds a preset voltage Vcs, for example, the charging current matching with a battery of small size is supplied to the charging terminal 13a.
