Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain quick and accurate adjustment in the adjustment mode by displaying indication of all names of controllable controlled systems and of current status of each controlled system onto a screen of a picture tube altogether. SOLUTION: When a button of a remote device 10 is depressed, its controlled system is automatically selected and indication represented in a menu 4b is displayed on a screen 4a. Names of all controlled systems which are controllable are displayed on a left side area 21 of the menu 4b and the current status of the controllable controlled systems is displayed by means of bars to a right side area 22 of the menu and the name of the controlled system selected at present is blinked. Then every time the operator depresses a button, the new controlled system is selected and the name of the controlled system selected at present is blinked. For example, while the 'lightness' is selected as a controlled system, when a down-button or an up-button is depressed, a microcomputer generates a control signal in response to the operating state and controls a video processing circuit.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To manually execute various adjustment while observing a bar graph by displaying plural adjustable items on a screen while depressing a prescribed button on a commander and flashing the display. CONSTITUTION: Channel switching buttons 41, channel UP/DOWN buttons 42 and sound volume UP buttons 43 are arrayed on a commander and channel switching and sound volume adjustment are executed by using these buttons 41 to 43. Input changing switches 44 are also arrayed on the commander to select a required equipment out of various video equipments, audio equipments and television broadcast stations connected to a television receiver. The adjustment of picture quality such as the existence of colors, the density of colors and brightness and the adjustment of sound volume can be executed by the commander. When a function selecting button 48 is depressed, a picture indicating items to be adjusted is displayed and a display indicating an adjusting item is flashed. In each depression of the button 48, the order of a flashing item is successively changed to move an adjusting item.

Thus, in the case of receiving a TV broadcast signal in a U.S. stationary troop base in the West Germany, the system M is selected by the broadcast TV-SYS to allow very easy channel selection.

CONSTITUTION:When the video signal recorded on a video tape from a video tape recorder VTR is reproduced, if the input is changed over between the video tape and a TV broadcast, a switching circuit 4 is thrown to the VTR position with a signal from a microcomputer (muCM)2 and the video signal from the video tape is displayed on a CRT6 via a reproducing circuit 5. If the channel of the TV receiver is selected in this case, a character signal representing that the video signal from the VTR is being reproduced, e.g., characters of VIDEO is displayed on the CRT6 from a character generator CG17 of the muCM2 so as to allow the user to recognize the misoperation.
