    Abstract: In response to data supplied from a system controller, a display microcomputer of a television receiver produces a display in a sub-screen of the cathode-ray tube of a main menu corresponding to the numerous operating functions of which the television receiver is capable. Some of these functions include a picture-in-picture function, a satellite broadcast receiving function, and a picture-recording reservation function. When a user of the television receiver selects an item on the main menu corresponding to the picture-in-picture function by using a remote controller, the system controller controls an audio video switch, the picture-in-picture circuit, and a display microcomputer to provide two picture-in-picture sub-screens displayed simultaneously. One sub-screen contains a sub-screen menu to enable the user to set parameters relative to the picture displayed in the other sub-screen.

    Abstract: A switched power supply is connected to electronic circuitry the supply of power to which is to be controlled. An automatic switch enables the switched power supply selectively to energize or de-energize the electronic circuitry. A nominally continuous power supply is also provided, and a reset signal generator is connected thereto for generating a reset signal in response to a rising edge of an output voltage of the nominally continuous power supply following an interruption of the output voltage. A power switch is provided, together with a reset device actuated by the reset signal and a switching circuit controller connected to the automatic switch. A memory is connected to the switching circuit controller for memorizing the condition thereon and producing a memory output signal in response thereto. A detector detects the condition of the power switch and produces a detector output signal in response thereto. The switching circuit controller is connected to the reset device, the memory and the detector and generates a control signal for controlling the operation of the automatic switch in joint dependence on the memory output signal and the detector output signal when the reset device is actuated.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To execute vivid audio reproducing at the time of reproducing music and to execute a clear reproducing at the time of reproducing an announcement, etc., by making voice frequency characteristic a wide band when inputting external sounds or receiving a stereophonic broadcast. CONSTITUTION:Video output signals from a video disk, a VTR and a 8 mm VTR are supplied to input terminals 3, 4 and 5 and audio output signals from them are supplied to the input terminals 6, 7 and 8. And also the audio output signals from an audio tuner, a cassette tape recorder and a CD player are respectively supplied to the input terminals 9, 10 and 11. The respective audio output signals are switched to be selected with a switching signal from a microcomputer 14 in a switching circuit 2, and supplied to an audio output circuit 27 through a tone quality control circuit 26. When the input sound signals are external inputs or when the stereophonic broadcast is received, a D/A converter 30 transmits a control signal to the tone quality control circuit 26 in order to obtain the with band frequency characteristic.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To release forcibly blanking and muting by detecting unlocking when a broadcast signal is not locked for a fixed time or longer by the AFT operation in case of channel selecting operation. CONSTITUTION:When channel selecting operation is performed by a key device 22, the video image blanking and muting operation are attained. When a channel selecting voltage is applied to a tuner 1 by a channel selection voltage generating circuit 23, the channel selection operation is attained and the AFT operation is performed by an AFT circuit 24. When the broadcast signal is locked by the AFT operation, a blanking/muting release instruction is applied to a muting signal generating circuit 25. When the absence of the broadcast signal in the AFT locking range continues for a fixed time, a timer 15 gives an output and even if the broadcast signal is not locked to an effective television signal by the AFT, the blanking and muting are released. Thus, it is prevented that the blanking/ muting operation at channel selection operation are regarded as a fault.
