Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To change a number of consecutively picked-up sheets in accordance with an image size to be handled by switching image data to a designated image size, deciding the upper limit of the number of the consecutively picked-up sheets in accordance with the designated image size and storing plural pieces of image data adjusted to the designated image size which is picked up consecutively. SOLUTION: A third switch 33 is connected to the output of a first memory 21. The third switch 33 outputs image data stored in the first memory 21 to a second switch 32 by the selection of a first terminal to be selected 33a and outputs it to a JPEG conversion part 36 by the selection of the second terminal to be selected. In recording, a signal processing part 30 reads image data from the first memory 21, and switches the second and third switches 32, 33 so that this image data may be outputted to the part 36. Then, the part 36 JPEG- concerts the inputted image data to record to a second memory 22.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To select an optional image from still images recorded in an external memory and to synthesize the selected image with an image taken by a video camera by providing the video camera with an image synthesis function for synthesizing a still image recorded in an attachable/detachable external memory with an image taken by the camera. SOLUTION: An image synthesizer is provided with an image synthesis part 14 for synthesizing an image taken by the video camera with a still image, a memory 16 for temporarily storing still images and an interface part 18 for connecting an attachable/detachable external memory 22 and connects respective parts through a bus 20. The image synthesis part 14 is provided with an exclusive memory 15 and a memory such as a PC card and a memory stick can be used as an attachable/detachable external memory 22. When the external memory 22 is attached, a still image control part 12 reads out the information of a still image stored in the memory 22 through the interface part 18 and supplies the read information to an operation control part 10.

The control means 6 publicates a command of inhibiting an output of a video signal to the output means 5 from the signal processing means 31 to a protect means 4 when the means 6 discriminates it that the output means 5 is removed based on the discrimination result of the discrimination means 65. According to the command, the protect means 4 inhibits an output of the video signal from the signal processing means 31 to the output means 5.

The luminance level of the reduced display image 27 is set lower than the maximum value. While using a comparator 25, it is detected whether the luminance level of the first synthetic image 22 is equal to or higher than a threshold 26 (0xFF) or not and when the luminance level of the first synthetic image is equal to or higher than the threshold, a picked-up image 20 is selected, when the luminance level of the first synthetic image is lower, the first synthetic image is selected so that a second synthetic image 29 can be generated.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and a method for synthesizing an image and an image pickup device with which two input images in different sizes can be easily combined and a user can select a synthesizing mode. SOLUTION: A memory (1) 9 is connected to an image signal processing IC 3 and temporarily stores signals from the image signal processing IC 3. Besides, the color of an initial image changed into the same size as an output image is made monochromatic (blue, white or black) based on three synthesizing modes and a stick image is generated by sticking a still picture smaller than the output image to this monochromatic initial image. An image synthesizing part 5 is connected to a DV converting part 4, the memory (1) 9 and a switch SW6 and a picked-up image from the DV converting part 4 and the still picture from the memory (1) 9 are combined in the selected synthesizing mode among three synthesizing modes and outputted to the switch SW6.

CONSTITUTION:When data are inputted, an erroneous erasing prevention detecting circuit detects the condition of an erroneous erasing prevention and hole 26a which is linked to the opening and closing motion of an erroneous erasing prevention lug 26 provided on a cassette 12 with memory. When an opened condition of the hole 26a is detected, a data writing to an MIC is permitted and, simultaneously, a recording to a magnetic tape is allowed. On the other hand, if the lug 26 is closed, the hole 26a is also closed and these conditions are detected and a data writing to the MIC is inhibited. Thus, by providing a function to inhibit a data writing to the MIC for the lug 26 in addition to a recording inhibit to the magnetic tape, the necessity to newly provide a data writing inhibit means for the MIC is eliminated.
