Abstract: This invention relates to an optical disk recording and reproducing apparatus for recording a predetermined signal on and/or reproducing the same from a writable disk which is rotated at a constant linear velocity by using a laser from a laser source. In this case, upon reproducing the above-described signal, if a signal recorded on the inner periphery of the disk is accessed, during the period from this addressing up to the time when the linear velocity at the inner periphery of the disk becomes constant, on the basis of a spindle lock signal, the beam power of the laser from the laser source and irradiating the disk is decreased to thereby prevent useless data from being rewritten on the disk.

Abstract: A thermal printing apparatus includes a platen about which a sheet of paver is circumferentially embraced; a head transfer carriage mounted on guide rails of the apparatus for slidable movement in the lengthwise direction of the platen; a thermal head assembly mounted only on one guide rail so as to move with the head transfer carriage in the lengthwise direction of the platen while also being adapted to pivot about the guide rail toward and away from the platen, such that a tape from a tape cartridge is positioned between the thermal head assembly and the paper so that as the thermal head assembly moves along the platen, it selectively heats the tape in response to an information signal to transfer the pigment from the tape onto the paper and thereby record visual information on the paper; a tape clamp device including a lever pivotally mounted to the apparatus, an elastic plate fixedly mounted to the apparatus, and a spring which biases the lever toward the elastic plate to clamp the tape therebetween during movement of the thermal head assembly in the recording operation; and another tape clamp device including a lever pivotally mounted to the head transfer carriage, an elastic plate fixedly mounted to the carriage and a spring which biases the lever toward the elastic plate to clamp the tape therebetween during movement of the thermal head assembly in the carriage return operation.

Abstract: Apparatus for producing a color picture on recording paper in response to a color video signal includes a cylindrical platen having the recording paper circumferentially embraced about at least a portion thereof; a multi-color tape of the thermal transfer type having black, cyan, magenta and yellow colored pigments arranged in lengthwise strips on the tape; a head transfer carriage adapted for movement along the platen in the lengthwise direction thereof; black, cyan, magenta and yellow head groups associated with the black, cyan, magenta and yellow colored pigment strips of the tape and mounted on the head transfer carriage in close proximity to the surface of the platen so that the tape is situated between the head groups and the recording paper, each head group including eight heads for transferring the color of the respective pigment strip with which it is associated to the recording paper; and a control device for controlling movement of the head transfer carriage and head groups in the lengthwise direction of the platen, rotation of the platen, and operation of the heads of each head group for recording respective colors on the recording paper so as to produce the color picture thereon, the control section including a separation circuit for separating cyan, magenta and yellow color signals from the color video signal, color memory circuits for storing one frame of the respective color signals, and a control section for controlling operation of the memory circuits to supply the color signals to the heads.

Abstract: Data can be overwritten at high density by a simple arrangement and with a small energy. Also, data of high recording density can be accurately recorded and reproduced by a simple arrangement. An alternating field having the same frequency as that of a recording fundamental clock generated by a PLL circuit (8) is generated by a coil (5) that constructs a tank circuit (7) and then applied to a magneto-optical disc (1). A phase of the recording fundamental clock is modulated by a phase modulating circuit (12) in association with recording data and a pulse synchronized with leading edge and trailing edge of such clock is generated by a pulse generating circuit (13). An optical pickup device (4) irradiates the magneto-optical disc (1) with a laser light in synchronism with the pulse. Therefore, a high density recording method in which the edge position of pit is shifted stepwise in association with data to be recorded can be applied to a magneto-optical recording in which a pit is formed by partially inverting a magnetization of a magneto- optical film of the magneto-optical disc (1).
