Abstract: Disclosed herein are processes for the recovery of 1,3-propanediol from an aqueous feed stream. The present invention involves contacting an aqueous feed stream that comprises water, 1,3-propanediol, and at least one contaminant with at least one solvent extractant to form a mixture. The mixture is separated into a first phase and a second phase. The second phase comprises a majority of the water from the aqueous feed stream. The first phase comprises solvent extractant and at least some of the 1,3-propanediol that was present in the aqueous feed stream. The weight ratio in the first phase of 1,3-propanediol to any one contaminant present is greater than the weight ratio of 1,3-propanediol to the same contaminant in the aqueous feed stream prior to the aqueous feed stream being contacted with the solvent extractant. The first phase can be removed from the separated second phase in order to recover the 1,3-propanediol.

Abstract: Disclosed herein is a process for the recovery of 1,3-propanediol from an aqueous feed stream. Abstract: Un procedimiento para recuperar 1,3-propanodiol de un caldo de fermentación que comprende 1,3-propanodiol, que comprende las etapas de: poner en contacto un caldo de fermentación que contiene agua, 1,3-propanodiol y al menos un contaminante escogido entre glicerol, glucosa y butanotriol, con al menos un disolvente de extracción escogido entre alcanoles, cetonas, ésteres, ácidos, éteres o aceites vegetales, para formar una primera mezcla y separar la primera mezcla en una primera fase y una segunda fase, donde la primera fase comprende la mayor parte del disolvente de extracción y al menos parte del 1,3-propanodiol que estaba presente en el caldo de fermentación y la relación de pesos de 1,3-propanodiol a al menos uno de los compuestos glicerol, glucosa o butanotriol en la primera fase es mayor que la relación de pesos de 1,3-propanodiol al mismo contaminante en el caldo de fermentación antes de que el caldo de fermentación se haya puesto en contacto con el disolvente de extracción y en el que la segunda fase comprende la mayor parte del agua y al menos alguno de los contaminantes de la corriente de alimentación acuosa; recuperar 1,3-propanodiol eliminando la primera fase de la segunda fase, poner en contacto la primera fase eliminada con una primera cantidad de disolución acuosa para formar una segunda mezcla y separar la segunda mezcla en una tercera fase y una cuarta fase, donde la tercera fase comprende la mayor parte del disolvente de extracción de la primera fase y donde la cuarta fase comprende 1,3-propanodiol y la mayor parte de la primera cantidad de disolución acuosa y la relación de peso en la cuarta fase de 1,3-propanodiol a cualquier contaminante presente es mayor que la relación en peso de 1,3-propanodiol al mismo contaminante en el caldo de fermentación antes de que el caldo de fermentación se haya puesto en contacto con el disolvente de extracción
