Thus, a 1:5.7:4.6:8.6 (molar) mixt. of methacrolein, air, N, and steam was passed at a 2-sec-residence time through a tube heated at 354≦̸C and contg. the mixed oxide catalyst on an Alundum support to give methacrylic acid in 93.8% yield.
