    Abstract: PURPOSE: To minimize power consumption during the scanning with scanner by irradiating a display, which is provided with parts having different light reflection rates, with light and scanning the display by converging reflected beams returned from the display. CONSTITUTION: A scanning component 20 supported by a holder means 30 is provided, and the scanning component 20 is supported by the holder means 30 so as to be mutually vibrated in a peripheral direction between both scanning end positions around one axial line. The holder means is operated for always returning the scanning component to a standstill position between both the scanning end positions. Then, a read starting means is provided for moving the scanning component 20 in a peripheral direction from the standstill position to one scanning end position. Thus, scanning structure for scanning a bar code symbol with a little power consumption can be provided.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To improve efficiency by temporarily holding a scamper to a direction selected from among unlimited adjusted directions. CONSTITUTION: The constituting elements of all selling time information management POS system are stored in a work station 100 having a bendable arm 108. The arm 108 can be freely bent repeatedly to a selected direction by a hand and the arm 108 is made of semihard metallic materials for holding the selected direction until the arm is re-bent once the arm is bent. A head 102 can be steplessly adjusted and positioned to a mark placed close to a work face outside a scanner by bending the arm 108. An electric cable 110 is connected with a terminal device 112 of the register of the POS system. Thus, a radiated laser beam 130 exactly hits the mark, and the reflected light is exactly returned, so that the efficiency of the POS system is improved.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To provide a scanner without a mirror by providing a laser element, an optical element and a sensor element, mounting one of them movably back and forth to the others and moving a mounting means and one element back and forth. CONSTITUTION: An assembly 28 is provided with a laser diode 32, a hollow tube 30 and a lens barrel 34 and the lens barrel is provided with a diaphragm and extended and contracted inside the hollow tube. Converged beams are passed through the window 40 of a housing and emitted. A supporting body 26 and the assembly 28 are turned by the back and forth turning of a motor shaft 22, a light spot forms an arc provided with the center of curvature on the diode 32, crosses a symbol on a reference surface and is swept and the need of a conventional mirror is eliminated. Laser reflected light from the symbol is passed through the window 42, received in a photosensor 44 and processed in a signal processing circuit 52 and a control circuit 53. A display device 55, a panel 56 and a battery 58 are connected through a cable connector 54, the laser diode 32, a motor 20, the sensor 44, the signal processing circuit and the control circuit 53 are operated by the operation of a trigger 60 and the symbol is read.
