Abstract: PURPOSE:To display a fault content at repair and to facilitate the repair by storing the fault content in a memory backed up by a power supply. CONSTITUTION:A memory 8 consists of a RAM(random access memory), in which a fault content is written and a power supply of a battery 1 is supplied thereto and a battery 10 for a clock 9 is used as a backup power supply. In the case of recording mode, for example, if a drum frequency generator of a drum servo system circuit 3 gives no output on its way, a microcomputer 6 discriminates it as a fault of the drum frequency generator and the fault content is displayed on the display section 7 and stored in the memory 8. Thus, in the case of a fault, the user carries only the camera main body 2 to a service shop, then the service shop uses a service commander 12 to read the storage content of the memory 8 and the result is displayed on an LCD 13. Thus, the repair is facilitated.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To recognize a defect, which occurs during the use of a user, at the time of service by supplying the signal indicating an abnormal state from an electronic apparatus to a controller in response to the request from the controller and displaying this signal. CONSTITUTION:When a counter reset button 23 of the controller like a wired remote controller 2 is depressed, a clear instruction is sent to the electronic apparatus like an 8mm VTR 1 through a bidirectional bus line 3. Contents of the latest defect stored in a memory are cleared, and the display on a display part 25 of the remote controller 2 is cleared also. When a rewind button 21 is depressed, a back instruction is sent, and the status display in the service mode on the remote controller 2 retrogresses. When a fast-forwarding button 22 is depressed, a next instruction is sent, and the status display in the service mode on the remote controller 2 progresses. Thus, contents of the defect can be confirmed not only just after the occurrence of the defect but also in the future, and the defect which occurs during the use of the user is recognized by service.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To detect satisfactorily leading and trailing ends of magnetic tape even if a magnetic substance of the tape is flaked off or the travel speed of the tape fluctuates by changing the period of a sampling pulse in accordance with the travel speed of the magnetic tape.
CONSTITUTION: The device 7 detects the travel speed of the magnetic tape, and the sampling pulse of a prescribed period is outputted from a generator 8 corresponding to a travel speed pulse in accordance with this detected travel speed. Thus, the leading and trailing ends are decided irrespective of the tape travel speed, and a signal from a system control circuit 11 changes an operation mode. Only when the counting which corresponds to a prescribed set value is obtained in succession, a control signal for stopping the tape travel is supplied to the circuit 11. Although a light beam reaches a photo transistor 1 due to the flaking of the magnetic layer off the tape, the counting will not be carried out up to the prescribed set value, thus avoiding erroneous detection.
