Abstract: The method of the present invention comprises the steps of irradiating near-infrated rays to a plastics of an unknown type to measure the NIR spectrum thereof, determining the first-derivative or second-derivative, measuring the differential spectrum at prescribed intervals of wavelength over a region of measurement wavelengths, determining the class of whether the differential spectrum for each measurement wavelength is on the plus-side, minus-side or any other side, comparing the resultant class data with those of previously determined differential spectra for plastics of known types to determine the ratio of agreement between the thus compared data (agreement ratio), and determining that the plastics showing the highest agreement ratio is the type of the plastics of the unknown type. By using the above-mentioned agreement ratio, it is possible to simply and rapidly determine the type of a plastics by means of the differential spectrum of near-infrared rays.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a high-level measuring accuracy, by having a fixed amount of ion species predetermined present in a reaction liquid to use an ion selecting electrode as reference electrode selectively responding to the ion species. CONSTITUTION:An immuno enzyme composite such as solid phase oriented antibody-antigen-enzyme labelled antibody is formed by immunological reaction and then, an enzyme reaction is caused between enzyme and a substrate of an immuno enzyme composite and the subsequent enzyme activity is measured with an oxidizing/reducing potential measuring apparatus. Here, somewhere between the outset of the immunological reaction and the measurement of an oxidizing/reducing potential, a fixed amount of specified ion species is made present in a reaction liquid. The reaction liquid 1 is sampled into a container 9 to be passed to a flow cell 2 having an indication electrode 3 and a reference electrode 4 selectively sensitive to the ion species with a peristatis pump 8 or the like to detect the oxidizing/reducing potential being discharged to a waste liquor tank 10. Then, a potential difference detected with both the electrodes 3 and 4 is shown as voltage value on a display section 7 through an amplifier 5 and a signal processing section 6 thereby obtaining a high-level measuring accuracy.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To measure enzyme activity, by adding a substrate, which undergoes oxidation reduction reaction with oxygen, in a solution including prepared immunity enzyme composite, and detecting the oxidation reduction potential of the solution. CONSTITUTION:An immunity enzyme composite such as solidified antibody/antigen/enzyme marker antibody is formed by immunization reaction, and the enzyme reaction of the enzyme in the immunity enzyme composite and the substrate is made to occur. Then, a solution after the enzyme reaction is stopped is picked up and put in a measuring bath 1. With the solution being stirred with an agitator 2, a working electrode 3 and a reference electrode 4 are immersed in the solution and an oxidation reduction potential is detected. The potential difference detected with both electrodes 3 and 4 is displayed on a display part 7 as a voltage value through an amplifier 5 and a signal processing part 6. The obtained voltage value is the value corresponding to the concentration ratio between the reduced body and the oxidized body in the solution. The voltage value is obtained for a standard liquid with known concentration beforehand, and a calibration curve for relation between the concentration and the voltage value is prepared. Thus the concentration of the component is obtained from the voltage value which is obtained for a sample, according to the calibrating curve.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To provide a method to discriminate a wrapping-material of a different type of plastic easily and rapidly without depending on a manual selection by an operator in observing the appearance of the wrapping material to determine whether the wrapping material of a different type of plastic is included in the stacked wrapping materials of a homogeous material after supplying the stacked wrapping materials of an identical type of plastic, for example, for eggs, to a discrimination step. CONSTITUTION: When a PET pack is given as a wrapping-material of a target plastic and a PVC or PS pack is given as a wrapping material of a different type of plastic, for example, for stacked egg packs, the stacked egg packs are irradiated with light, and the absorbance (b) at particular wavelengths of 1.675, 1.738μm for PET and PVC and the absorbancne (a) at a wavelength of 1.550μm other than the former, are measured using the absorption spectrum of an infrared ray obtained from the transmitting light. In addition, if j>=2 is satisfied after j=c/i, the ratio of c=b-a and i=h-a is sought, it is interpreted that there is no inclusion of a pack of a different type of plastic.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To find a measurable position by avoiding opaque parts so as to reliably identify the kind of plastic used for an article to be inspected by irradiating the article with detecting light while the article is relatively moved to a position detector. CONSTITUTION:Plastic bottles 1 carried on a caterpillar belt 4 are irradiated with light from the irradiating section 3a of a position detector 3. When such opaque parts as labels, printed characters, etc., exist in the barrel sections of the bottles, the absorption spectrum effective to identifying the kind of the plastic used for the bottles 1 is not obtained. Therefore, an analyzer 6 confirms whether or not the received quantity of the light transmitted through the bottles 1 exceeds a preset prescribed value from light receiving signals from a light receiving section 3b. When the analyzer 6 confirms that the quantity of received light is larger than the prescribed value by a prescribed distance, the analyzer 6 decides the position as a discriminated position by judging that the kind of plastic can be identified by measuring the absorption spectrum of near infrared rays by means of the detector 5.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To determine the concentration of a substrate, by adding catalase to oxidoreductase and measuring the difference of hydrogen peroxide produced by the action of oxidoreductase and hydrogen peroxide consumed by the action of catalase electrochemically. CONSTITUTION:A dilution solution admixed with potassium chloride, glucose oxidase and catalase to a phosphate buffer solution, is filled in a tank 7 and is sent to a flow cell 2 by a pump 6. A sample solution containing beta-D glucose injected from a sample injection opening 5 and the dilution solution, is mixed by a stirrer 4 and beta-D glucose is decomposed by glucose oxidase to produce hydrogen peroxide. At the same time, hydrogen peroxide is decomposed by the action of catalase. The concentration of said hydrogen peroxide is detected by a polarographic electrode 1 and its signal is amplified to differentiate by a differential circuit 9 and its maximum value is measured.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To simply and rapidly identify a type of plastic to sort plastic wastes according to their materials by applying near-infrared rays to plastic of an unknown type to measure an absorption spectrum. CONSTITUTION:Near-infrared rays are applied to plastic of an unknown type to measure an absorption spectrum, its differential spectrum is obtained, and the differential spectrum is observed at predetermined wavelength intervals over a measuring wavelength region. Whether the differential spectrum at each measuring wavelength is on a positive side, a negative side or a side other than these is determined, and a type of the differential spectrum at each measuring wavelength is compared with a differential spectrum obtained in advance on plastic of a known type, thereby identifying the type of an unknown spectrum. A differential spectrum of any order can be used, although a first-order differential spectrum or a second-order differential spectrum may be used.
