    Abstract: PURPOSE:To eliminate deficiency in the coating and evaporation preventing the attachment of oligomer or the like by passing a part or whole of a heated air circulating through a tenter for thermal fixation through an oxidation catalyst layer to thermally treat it intermittently outside the system. CONSTITUTION:A heated air passed through an oxidation catalyst layer kept activated is blown against the surface of a polyester film to remove oligomer generated in a tenter by burning the oxidation catalyst thereby preventing foreign matters such as oligomer from being attached to and left on the surface of a film. The oxidation catalyst layer is preferably made up of more than 80mol% of polyester comprising polyethylene terephthalate and an oxidation catalyst comprising platinum group metal supported on a carrier with the thickness thereof of 20-50mm.. The treatment outside the system is provided to refresh the catalyst layer and shall be done preferably at 250-350 deg.C for about 30-60min.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a film-formed product useful for motor-insulation etc. without wrinkles or breakage even at deep drawing by heating biaxially stretched polyester film under special condition and then by cooling the film after it is formed by drawing in a metal die. CONSTITUTION:When a biaxially stretched polyester film (e.g. polyethylene terephthalate film etc.) is drawn, this film is heated in the atmosphere of 270- 325 deg.Cfor the time more than the time indicated by next formula, T1=160exp {-0.0209t}+1.68Aexp{-8.83X10 t} [T1 is time (sec); A is film thickness (mu); t is temperature ( deg.C)], and for the time less than the time indicated by next formula, T2=1084exp{-0.0216t}+10.34Aexp{-0.0215t} [T2 is time(sec)]. Successively, by cooling said film after it is drawn by a metal die, the objective film-formed product may be obtained.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To raise adhesion of metallized film and to improve reduction of adhesion with time, by heat-treating a metallized polyester film before processing of treatment such as application of a laminating adhesive, etc. CONSTITUTION:A metallized polyester film (a polyester consisting of preferably >=80mol% polyethylene terephthalate, which may be copolymerized with ethylene and terephthalic acid, is thermally set and biaxially oriented) is heat-treated at 125-150 deg.C for a time of a value obtained by the formula [t is time of heat treatment (sec.); T is heat-treating temperature; Tg is glass-transition temperature ( deg.C) of polyester] to improve adhesion of a metallized film of the metallized polyester film.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain polyethylene terephthalate suitable as a film for a magnetic tape, having improved slipperiness and surface conditions, by adding a soluble lithium compound, calcium compound and a phosphorus compound to the polycondensation step of the polyethylene terephthalate. CONSTITUTION:At a point of time from the completion of ester interchange reaction or esterification reaction of terephthalic acid (derivative) with ethylene glycol to an intrinsic viscosity of 0.2, preferably 0.01-0.25wt% glycol-soluble lithium compound, e.g. lithium chloride, and preferably 0.01-0.3wt% glycol-soluble calcium compound, at a molar ratio between the lithium compound and the calcium compound of preferably 1/1-10/1 are added to the polycondensation step. Furthermore, preferably 0.05-0.3wt% trivalent or pentavalent phosphorus compound, e.g. phosphoric acid, or both are added thereto to complete the polycondensation. Thus, the aimed polyethylene terephthalate is obtained.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the titled film which has a low rate of heat contraction and a high degree of planeness and which is useful for the use of FPC by a method wherein a biaxially oriented polyester film is subjected to a heat treatment between a feed roll and a takeout roll at a predetermined temperature, for a predetermined time and under a predetermined tensile force. CONSTITUTION:A plyester material (e.g., polyethylene terephthalate and the like) is dried, melted and extruded according to the ordinary method and the extruded material is rolled longitudinally and laterally to thereby obtain the biaxially oriented film. Then the film is subjected to a heat treatment between the feed roll and the takeout roll at a temperature of T1-T2 (wherein T1=210 deg.C and T2=240 deg.C), for a heat treating time of t1-t2 satisfying the equation of log t1=1.623X10 .A+1.097 (sec)[wherein A is thickness (mu) of film], log t2= 1.623X10 .A+0.986(sec), and under a tensile force of P of 0.025kg/mm. satisfying the equation of log P=-1.30X10 .A-0.818(kg/mm. ), to thereby obtain the target film.
