    Abstract: Disclosed is a liquid separation module of the spiral type which is produced by a simple apparatus requiring no manual operations, so that a mandrel is provided with a spirally and tightly wound layer arrangement consisting of a plurality of layer elements without any abnormal relative shifting between any layer elements, without the occurrence of wrinkles in any layer element and with uniform tightness of the winding along the radius of the wound layer arrangement. The layer arrangement is wound on the mandrel in such way that, while the layer arrangement is being wound on the mandrel by rotating the mandrel with the forward end of the layer arrangement fixed to the mandrel, a portion of the layer arrangement which has not yet been tightly wound is radially pressed just before coming into tight contact with the mandrel or with another portion of the layer arrangement which has been tightly wound, so that the degree of winding tightness is increased separated from each other. A preferable layer arrangement is prepared so that the layer elements are piled one on top of the other and a single sheet of permeable membrane is used as one of the layer elements, which is connected at the ends thereof to form a loop after completion of the winding process. Apparatus for producing such a liquid separation module is also disclosed.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the size and weight of a water making unit, to enable the low-pressure operation thereof and to make the unit adequate for emergency use, such as in the event of a disaster, by loading a filter unit for filtering raw water and a sepn. membrane unit for treating the treated water subjected to filtration by membrane sepn into the inside of a single vessel. SOLUTION: The water making unit is constituted by loading the filter unit 10 for filtering the raw water and a reverse osmosis membrane module 20 as the sepn. membrane unit for membrane sepn. of the treated water filtered into a single vessel 2. A raw water inlet 4 connected to a raw water line 1 is disposed at one end plate 3 of the vessel 2 and a permeate outlet 6 and a condensate outlet 7 are disposed at the other end plate 5. A plurality of filter elements 8 of a cartridge type are disposed in the filter unit 10. These elements are mounted at a mounting board 9. The plural units 10, 20 are loaded into the single vessel 2 according thereto and, therefore, the water making unit which is small in size and light in weight and can be operated with low pressure may be inexpensively produced.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate the maintenance, to miniaturize a preservation space and to rapidly and simply generate a fresh water by forming a filter unit and a separation membrane unit to directly connect to each other through a common head. SOLUTION: A feed water from a feed water line 1 is supplied into the filter unit 20 from a head part 2 directly connected to the filter unit 20 and the separation membrane unit 30. The back flow is prevented by preferably providing a non-return corn constituted of a polypropylene-made-ball and a spring in an inlet of the filter unit 20. The filter unit 20 has a cartridge type filter element 3 and absorbs and remove fine particles, a dissolved gas or the like in the feed water to supply to a module vessel 7 of the separation membrane unit 30. The feed water is membrane-separated by a reverse osmosis membrane module 8 and each generated water flows out to a permeated water outlet 10 and a concentrated water outlet 11. By the structure, the maintenance is facilitated, the preservation space is decreased and the fresh water is rapidly generated.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the back washing efficiency and shorten the back washing time by connecting a plurality of water purifiers in parallel, each of which is provided with a cartridge filled with activated carbon mixture having two of more peaks in particle size distribution curve in the front stage and a cartridge filled with hollow fiber membranes in the rear stage. SOLUTION: This water purifying apparatus comprises two water purifiers 8, 9 arranged in parallel, a raw water supply line 10, a filtered water taking out line 20, and a back washing water discharging line 29 and the respective water purifiers 8, 9 are filled with filtration materials 8a, 8a'; 9a, 9a', respectively. As the filtration materials 8a, 9a, activated carbon having two or more peaks in a particle size distribution (the ratio of the particle sizes at two peaks are from (1:8) to (1:2)] is used and as the materials 8a', 9a', a large number of hollow fiber membranes made of a translucent film are used. Three-way valves 21, 22 as line switching means to switch the raw water supply line 10 and the back washing water discharging line 29 are installed in the respective water purifiers 8, 9 and the respective water purifiers 8, 9 are so operated as to reciprocally carry out purifying process and back washing process.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively wash a separation membrane and a water purifying element which are used in a water purifier, etc., by repeating a backwashing and non-backwashing cycle. SOLUTION: A filtration process and a backward washing process are repeated alternately. The filtration process and the backward washing process are changed over by three-way valves 21, 22 and a two-way valve 23. First, when two water purifiers 8, 9 are operated for filtration, the three way valves 21, 22 are opened to the (a) side, and the two-way valve 23 is opened. In this way, supplied raw water is filtered during the passage from raw water supply areas 8b, 9b to filter mediums 8a, 8a', 9a, 9b' of the water purifiers 8, 9 to be taken out from filtrate take-out areas 8c, 9c. Besides, in the backward washing of the water purifier 8, the three-way valve 22 is opened to the (a) side, the three-way valve 21 is opened to the (b) side, and the two-way valve 23 is closed and a purified water take-out line 20 closed by the valve 23 is used as a backward washing supply line. Therefore, raw water is supplied only to the water purifier 9, the filtrate obtained by the water purifier 9 is supplied to the area 8c as backward washing water.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate compressed air and filtrate supply means by backwashing a water purifier in which a channel closing part is set freely attachably/ detachably so that in a connector in which openings for fluid are formed at both ends from a pair of connectors which connected cartridges in parallel, a joint between different kinds of cartridges is divided. SOLUTION: A cartridge 30 the front part of which is filled with active carbon and a cartridge 31 the rear part of which is loaded with hollow fiber membranes are connected parallely by a pair of connectors 32, 33. Openings 37, 38 for fluid are formed at both ends of the connector 32. A channel closing member 39 which closes a channel between different kinds of cartridges 30, 31 is set freely attachably/detachably in the connector 32. Although the cartridges 30, 31 are connected in parallel, they are connected in series by the member 39. Since active carbon is backwashed with washing water which was used for backwashing the membranes, defects which occur when compressed air and a pressure pump are used can be eliminated.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a back washing improved in flow rate and water pressure by providing a flow passage shut-off part in one connector and a washing water discharge port in an other connector of a pair of connectors in which plural cartridges incorporated respectively with an activated carbon at a preceding stage and a hollow fiber at a post stage are connected in parallel. SOLUTION: The flow passage shut-of part 39 is fitted freely detachably to the upper part connector 32 provided with fluid inlet/outlet 37 and 38 at its both ends in the upper part connectors 32 and 33 in which plural activated carbon cartridges 30 are connected at the preceding stage and the hollow fiber membrane cartridge 31 is connected at the post stage in parallel so that a connecting part of the cartridges 30 and 31 differ in kind may be separated. ON the other hand, the washing water discharge port 43 is disposed at the lower part connector 33, and a washing water discharge line is connected to the port, but the position of the discharge port 43 is kept at the boundary part of the activated carbon cartridge 30 and the hollow fiber membrane cartridge 31. Then the back washing is realized by shutting a raw water supplying at the inlet side of this water purifier and providing a line changeover means capable of discharging a back washing water.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an intake apparatus capable of setting a raw water intake port at a predetermined water depth position by providing a strainer, a pipe taking out taken-in water and a float. SOLUTION: As an intake port for taking in water, a strainer 1 made of a plastic net or a metal net pref. having about 10-50 mesh is provided to the leading end of a hose. In order to set this raw water intake port at a predetermined water depth position, a float 3 and a wt. are provided. The float 3 has a cylindrical or doughnut like shape composed of foam or a hollow member and a pipe-shaped intake pipe also used as a pole achieves the function thereof. The float 3 is pierced through this pole 4 to adjust buoyancy balance. An air vent is provided to the pipe hole of the pole 4 and, further, an air vent valve 9 using a non-return cone is provided to the air vent. When raw water is sucked from the near sea or rivers in case of emergency at a time of disaster, it is prevented that waste refuse on the surface of water or the precipitate on the bottom of water is sucked.
