    Abstract: The object of the present invent:ion is to provide a method for efficiently resolving optical isomers. The object of the present invention can be achieved by a method for resolving optical isomers, in which an discriminating liquid consisting of an discriminating agent capable of discriminating optical isomers and a diluent is brought into contact with a mixture containing said optical isomers in counter current, to resolve the optical isomers by adsorption separation, distillation separation, absorption separation or membrane separation, and is recovered at an optical isomer content of 5 wt% or less for recycled use, characterized by satisfying one or move of the following conditions (a) The dielectric constant of the diluent is 30 or less and the viscosity of the discriminating liquid is 0.2 Pa's or less at the temperature of the resolving operation. (b) The discriminating agent contained has an effect of splitting the 1H or 13C-NMR spectrum peak of the optical isomers when added and the diluent contained has a dielectric constant equal to or lower than the dielectric constant of the measuring solvent at the time of measuring the 1H or 13C-NMR spectrum. (c) The boiling point of at least one compound of the discriminating agent at the pressure of resolving operation is higher than the boiling point of at least one compound of the diluent at the pressure of resolving operation. (d) The boiling point of at least one compound of the diluent at the pressure of resolving operation is higher than the boiling point of the optical isomers to be resolved, at the pressure of resolving operation by 10.degree.C or more. (e) The concentration of,the discriminating agent in the discriminating liquid is 10 wt% or more.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for dividing optical isomers. SOLUTION: This method is based on an adsorption, distillation, absorption or membrane-aided separation to divide optical isomers by bringing a mixture containing optical isomers counter-currently with a classificating solution composed of a classificating agent and diluent, and to recover the classificating solution containing the isomers at 5 wt.% or less, wherein at least one of the following conditions is satisfied: (a) the diluent has a relative dielectric constant of 30 or less, and classificating solution has a viscosity of 0.2 Pa.s or less at division operating temperature, (b) the classificating solution is composed of the classificating agent having an effect of splitting 1H- or 13C-NMR spectral peak, and diluent whose relative dielectric constant is the same as, or lower than, that of the solvent used for measuring 1H- or 13C-NMR spectral pattern, (c) the classificating agent has a lower boiling point than the diluent at division operating pressure, (d) the diluent has at least 10 deg.C higher boiling point than any of the optical isomers at division operating pressure, and (e) the classificating solution contains the classificating agent at 10 wt.% or more.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To bake a halogenated hydrocarbon-containing zeolite adsorbent without deteriorating the same by washing said adsorbent with a non-halogen type org. solvent to remove halogenated hydrocarbon before baking the same. CONSTITUTION:When a zeolite adsorbent containing halogenated hydrocarbon such as dichlorobenzene or chlorotoluene is baked, a non-halogen type org. solvent such as methanol or ethanol is brought into contact with the zeolite solvent in a fixed or fluidized bed to wash the adsorbent to remove halogenated hydrocarbon remaining in the adsorbent. Thereafter, the washed adsorbent is dried, if necessary and baked at 200 deg.C or higher pref., 400-600 deg.C. By this method, the zeolite adsorbent containing halogenated hydrocarbon can be baked without being deteriorated.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To efficiently separate m-dichlorobenzene(DCB) in high purity from a DCB isomer mixture comprising o, m and p-DCBs using specific zeolite as adsorbent. CONSTITUTION:When a DCB isomer mixture comprising o, m and p-DCBs is put to adsorptive separation, the m-DCB is separated and recovered through e.g. chromatographic fractination techinque or adsorptive separation technique with pseudo moving bed using, as adsorbent, a zeolite, pref. a crystalline aluminosilicate belonging to faujasite-type zeolite containing K and Pb at the molar ratio Pb /(Pb +2K )=0.1-0.8 (pref. 0.2-0.5) as the essential components, thus markably improving the adsorptive separation efficiency. For a desorbing agent, 3,4-dichlorotoluene is esp. preferable, and as the operational conditions for the adsorptive separation, it is preferable that the operation be carried out in a liquid phase at room temperature to 350 deg.C (pref. 50-250 deg.C) under a pressure of the atmospheric pressure to 50kg/cm G (pref. the atmospheric pressure to 40kg/cm G).

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To selectively separate the objective substance by subjecting an isomer mixture of halogenated benzene derivatives to distillation or diffusion treatment, removing hydrogen halides, water and low-boiling components contained in the above-mentioned mixture and bringing the resultant mixture into contact with a zeolite adsorbent. CONSTITUTION:An isomer mixture of halogenated benzene derivatives (e.g., dichlorobenzene or chlorotoluene) is subjected to diffusion treatment for blowing an inert gas and removing volatile components or distillation treatment by a conventional method to remove hydrogen halides, trace amounts of water and low-boiling components formed as a by-product and the resultant mixture is then brought into contact with a zeolite adsorbent (e.g. ZSM-5) to afford the objective isomer. Since deterioration of the zeolite adsorbent can be prevented by previously removing the hydrogen halides, water and low-boiling components formed as the by-product, the objective isomer can be separated for a long period even without deteriorating productivity.

SOLUTION: The objective method for efficiently producing an optically active substance comprises the optical resolution step of charging an extractive distillation column with an extractant for optical resolution and a diluent via the upper tier and an optical enantiomer mixture via the intermediate tier and extracting a fraction rich in one of the enantiomers via the overhead while extracting a fraction rich in the other (mating) enantiomer via the lower tier and the purifying step of distilling and purifying the fraction extracted via the overhead in a purifying distillation column; wherein the reflux ratio of the extractive distillation column is smaller than that of the purifying distillation column.
