    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the titled film excellent in applicability of a cutter, manual tearability, transparency, chemical resistance, moisture proofness, etc., by biaxially orienting a cast sheet obtained from a composition formed by adding a specified resin to a PP resin. CONSTITUTION:A composition formed by adding 24-5wt% at least either a petroleum resin having neight unsaturated bonds nor polar groups such as OH, COOH, halogen or sulfo groups and having a glass transition temperature of 50-120 deg.C (e.g., dicyclopentadiene polymer based on the principal component of the formula and having a degree of hydrogenation >=90%) or a polar group- free terpene resin to 76-95wt% PP resin of an isotatic index >=90% and an intrinsic viscosity of 1.3-2.0dl/g (as measured in boiling tetralin) is molten at, for example, 180-240 deg.C and mixed, extruded, and cast on a cooling drum to effect solidification by cooling. The formed film iis biaxially stretched to obtain the titled film having a thickness of 15-150mu, an intrinsic viscosity of 0.2-1.2dl/g, a glass transition temperature of 10-70 deg.C, a strength at break in the machine direction of 6-11kg/mm , an elongation at break of 30-60%, and a strength to elongation ratio of 0.1-0.35.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve efficiency for prepn. and to reduce the cost for prepn. of a circular polarizing plate by pasting a biaxially stretched thermoplastic resin film having a specified angle between an optical orientation direction and a longitudinal stretching direction of the film and a specified retardation value to a plate for linear polarization. CONSTITUTION:For example, a 1/4 wavelength plate comprising a biaxially stretched thermoplastic resin film consisting of polyethleni terephthalate resin having 30-60%o or 120-150 deg. angle between the optical orientation direction and the longitudinal stretching direction and 80-200mmu retardation value is laid on a plate for linear polarization comprising, for example, polyvinyl alcohol linear polarizing film so as to arrange the longitudinal stretching direction of the biaxially stretched film to cross orthogonally or to be arranged parallely to the optical orientation direction of the linear polarization plate, thus forming a circular polarization plate by adhering the both. By this method, a continuous and long sized product is prepd., so the preparation efficiency is improved and the preparation cost is reduced.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a film for adhesive-backed tape, which is excellent in property to be easily cut with cutter, property to be easily cut by hand, transparency and resistance to chemicals and the like by a method wherein an oriented film, which is obtained by orienting polypropylene resin with the specified intrinsic viscosity with petroleum resin added at least in one direction, is treated with electron rays at the specified temperature conditions. CONSTITUTION:First, polypropylene resin, the intrinsic viscosity [eta] is 1.85, with 20wt% addition of perfectly hydrogenated material of dicyclopentadiene as petroleum resin is melt-extruded at 200 deg.C with a T-die. Secondly, the resultant cast film is introduced in a hot air oven having a temperature of 145 deg.C so as to orient lengthwise at the draw ratio of 6.5 and, immediately after the orientation, the oriented film is cooled down to below 40 deg.C. Thirdly, the resultant film is oriented crosswise at 155 deg.C with a tenter at the draw ratio of 9 and, immediately after the orientation, heat-treated at 160 deg.C for 10sec with an allowable crosswise relaxation of 7%. Fourthly, the film is past through preheating rolls having a temperature of 50 deg.C and, after that, irradiated with electron rays in the presence of oxygen by means of an electron ray irradiating device. The obtained film is excellent in transparency, property to be easily cut with cutter and property to be easily cut by hand and is most suitable for the application of adhesive-backed tape such as cellophane tape.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the titled film having a high polarizing property and excellent heat resisting and antimoisture properties and a high light permeability by forming an uniaxially oriented polyester film composed of a polyester copolymerized a dichroic dyestuff in a main chain of the copolymer as a main component. CONSTITUTION:The titled film is composed of the uniaxially oriented polyester film copolymerized the dichroic dyestuff as the main component. Said polyester is a high polymer compd. contg. an polyester binding -COO- which is obtd. by polycondensating a dicarboxylic acid component and a diol in a repeating unit of the polymer, as the main component, and including the dichroic dyestuff as a copolymerization component in the main chain. The main component of the polyester comprises preferably the aromatic polyester. The limiting viscosity number of eta of said polyester is preferably >=0.4 (weight average molecular weight is >=12,000). The glass transition temp. Tg of the polyester is preferably >=100 deg.C. The compounding ratio of the dichroic dyestuff to the copolymer is 0.005-10mol%. The titled polyester having not only the excellent polarizing property, especially, under a high temp. and humidity, but also the excellent characteristics such as the copolymerizability, the handling, the film forming and the drawing properties of the copolymer is obtd.
