    Abstract: PURPOSE:To produce the title copolymer industrially at a high productivity without causing foaming due to a poly(alkylene oxide) glycol. CONSTITUTION:The copolymer is produced by esterifying or transesterifying terephthalic acid or its ester-forming deriv. with 1,4-butanediol to give bis (hydroxybutyl) terephthalte and/or its low polymer and subjecting the reaction product to polycondensation under a reduced pressure under such a condition that at an arbitrary time after the reaction pressure reaches 20Torr and before the intrinsic viscosity [eta] of the resulting polymer reaches 0.70, a poly(alkylene oxide) glycol in an amt. of 0.1-10wt.% based on the polymer is added to the reaction system and the polycondensation is continued.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide the subject nonwoven fabric having sufficient shape- recovering property, softness and small fiber diameter and useful for medical nonwoven fabrics, linings, etc., by mutually melt-bonding fibers after the fibers consisting of a shape-memorizing resin are extruded from fine holes until the spun fibers are gathered. CONSTITUTION:A block copolymer [melting heat peak expressed at 0-80 deg.C is >=0.5cal/g (measured with a differential scanning calorimeter)] comprising a high melting point crystalline segment consisting mainly of crystalline aromatic polyester units, preferably polybutylene terephthalate, and a low melting point segment consisting mainly of an aliphatic polylactone (60-99wt.% based on the copolymer), preferably poly (epsilon-caplolactone) is melted, extruded from the fine holes of a melt-blow device, drafted and divided with a high speed fluid and gathered on a conveyor to provide the objective nonwoven fabric wherein the fibers are melt-bonded to each other until gathered.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a thermoplastic composition, moldable in a molten state, having shape memorizing function by blending an aromatic polyester unit with an aliphatic polylactone so as to satisfy a specific condition. CONSTITUTION:(A) A high-melting crystalline segment consisting essentially of an aromatic polyester unit is copolymerized with (B) a low-melting polymer segment of aliphatic polylactone having >=0.5cal/g heat of fusion of fusion peak occurring at 0 deg.C-80 deg.C in differential scanning calorimeter so as to make 60-99wt.%, especially 80-98wt.% content of the component B. Polybutyleneterephthalate and poly(epsilon-caprolactone) are used as the crystalline aromatic polyester and the aliphatic lactone, respectively.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a composite fiber having excellent melt-spinnability and drawability, by copolymerizing terephthalic acid, 5-sodium sulfoisophthalate and a dicarboxylic acid at specific ratios and using the obtained copolymerized polyester soluble in hot water as a component of the fiber. CONSTITUTION:A copolymerized polyester soluble in hot water is produced by adding 5-15mol% 5-sodium sulfoisophthalate and 5-40mol% aliphatic dicarboxylic acid (e.g. adipic acid, sebacic acid, etc.) and/or alicyclic dicarboxylic acid (e.g. 1,4-cyclohexanedicarboxylic acid) to terephthalic acid constituting the main acid component and copolymerizing the mixture. The objective composite fiber can be produced by carrying out composite spinning using the obtained soluble polyester as one component and other polymers such as nylon 6, polyethylene terephthalate, etc., as the other components.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To make it possible to improve the heat resistance and hydrolysis resistance of polyester polycarbonate elastomer without detriment to the chemical resistance of a polyester elastomer, by using an alkylene terephthalate unit as the main hard segment and an alkanediol carbonate unit as the soft segment. CONSTITUTION:This polyester polycarbonate elastomer is composed of an alkylene terephthalate unit and an alkanediol carbonate unit as essential unit components and has an intrinsic viscosity of at least 0.4. The alkylene terephthalate unit component is desirably one obtained from terephthalic acid or its esterifiable derivative and 1,4-butanediol. The alkane diol carbonate unit component is desirably a hexanediol carbonate unit component.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:The polymerization is conducted in the presence of a specific organotitanium compound and organotin compound to inhibit the formation of by-products and produce polytetramethylene terephthalate with less contamination by foreign substances and good haze, suitable for making fibers. CONSTITUTION:An organotitanium compound of formula I (R is alkyl; M is alkaline earth metal) such as magnesium titanium methylate is mixed with an organotin compound of formula II (R is alkyl; X1, X2, X3 are alkyl and others) such as tetraethyltin at a weight ratio of 0.7-5. The polycondensation reaction between terephthalic acid or its derivative and butanediol-1,4 is conducteed in the presence of 0.001-0.1 wt% of the mixture as a catalyst to yield the objective polymer. EFFECT:Recovered butanediol with a water content of less than 10 wt% can be eomployed as the feedstock.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To efficiently produce a polybutylene terephthalate polymer having reduced terminal carboxyl groups. CONSTITUTION: After the esterification reaction is completed between the dicarboxylic acid components mainly comprising terephthalic acid and the glycol components mainly comprising 1,4-butanediol, oxalic acid is added to the reaction mixture in an amount of 0.1-5 mole % based on 1 mole of the dicarboxylic acid component for PBT during the time until the polycondensation reaction starts. Additionally 0.1-0.5 mole, based on 1 mole of the dicarboxylic acid for PBT, of butanediol is preferably admixed. The resultant PBT is subjected to the solid-phase polymerization to increase the degree of polymerization and reduces effectively the terminal carboxylic groups. This PBT has excellent thermal stability and high resistance to hydrolysis and can be suitably used as parts for the engine room of cars.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide the subject fabric having a bending resistance at room temperature and a bending resistance at the washing water-temperature satisfying a specific relationship, exhibiting high bending resistance in normal use and easily washable with a washing machine. CONSTITUTION:A textile fabric is immersed in a shape-memory resin solution containing a block copolymer of a high-melting crystalline segment composed mainly of a crystalline aromatic polyester unit (e.g. polybutylene terephthalate) and a low-melting segment composed mainly of an aliphatic polylactone [e.g. poly(alpha-caprolactone)]. The immersed fabric is dried and heat-treated to obtain a shape-memory resin-finished fabric having the memory of e.g. a flat shape and having a bending resistance at 20 deg.C (Ga) and a bending resistance at 6O deg.C (Gb) satisfying the formula. The fabric is flexible in washing and restored to the original moderate hardness after washing to keep the preferable quality of the fabric.
