    Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide a new compound causing no serious side effect such as morphine intoxication, having no cross resistance with e.g. morphine, being a kappa-receptor agonist having powerful analgesic activity, thus useful as an analgesic. CONSTITUTION:The objective compound of formula I [R is cyclopropylmethyl or allyl; R is H or hydroxyl; including (+)-modification, ($)-modification and (+ or -)-modification], e.g. 2-cyclopropylmethyl-4aalpha-(3-hydroxyphenyl)-6-oxo-1,2,3,4,4 a,5,6,7,8,8abeta-decahydroisoquinoline. The compound of the formula I can be obtained, for example, by deprotecting the acetal-protecting group of a compound of formula III produced from a compound of formula II as starting material, in a solvent such as THF in the presence of an acid catalyst such as hydrochloric acid.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the subject polymer having excellent mechanical and thermal properties, moldable by melt-molding and suitable as an engineering plastics etc., by copolymerizing plural structural units at a specific ratio. CONSTITUTION:The objective polymer having a melt viscosity of 30-30,000 poise is produced by polymerizing (A) 4-hydroxy-4'-diphenyl carboxylic acid forming the structural unit of formula I, (B) chlorohydroquinone, etc., forming the structural unit of formula II (X is group of formula III, etc.), (C) terephthalic acid, etc., forming the structural unit of formula IV (n is 1 or 2) and, as necessary, (B) p-hydroxybenzoic acid, hydroquinone, isophthalic acid, etc., forming the structural units of formula V, VI (m is 1 or 2) and VII (Y is group of formula VIII, etc.) e.g. by melt-polymerization method. The ratios of I/V, (I+V)/(I+V +VI+II) and IV/VII in the obtained polymer are 2/8 to 10/0, 2/8 to 9/1 and 2/8 to 10/0, respectively.

CONSTITUTION:(A) A fluorine-substituted hydroquinone constituting a structural unit of formula I (n is 1-4), (B) terephthalic acid, etc., constituting a structural unit of formula II (m is 1 or 2) and, as necessary, (C) methyl hydroquinone, isophthalic acid, etc., respectively constituting structural units of formulae III (X is formula IV, etc.) and V (Y is formula VI, etc.) are polymerized, e.g. by the melt polymerization method to obtain the objective polymer having 10-20000 poise melt viscosity and a composition in which (formula I)/(formula III) and (formula I + formula III) are (10/0)-(1/9) and equimolar to (formula II + formula V), respectively.
