    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheath core type composite fiber excellent in comfortable ness, heat-retaining property, a light weight feeling, a soft feeling and a wet feeling, to provide a fibrous structural material consisting of the fiber and a method for producing the same. SOLUTION: This sheath core type composite fiber is provided by consisting of a core component A which is a polyester polymer copolymerized with a copolymerization component, and a sheath component B which is a polyhexamethylene adipamide copolymerized with ≥0.01 wt.% and ≤10 wt.% lactam and having ≥2.0 and ≤4.5 relative viscosity, consisting of at least 2 components, and satisfying the following fiber physical properties (1)-(5): (1) Fineness; ≥0.9 dtex and ≤11.0 dtex, (2) number of crimps; ≥5 crimps/25 mm and ≤25 crimps/25 mm, (3) crimping rate; ≥5% and ≤30, (4) dry strength; ≥0.5 cN/dtex and ≤10.0 cN/dtex, and (5) dry elongation, ≥5% and ≤100%.
