Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently and selectively isolate and purify the subject compound in high yield by mixing a solution containing shikimic acid with ammonia or an amine, then isolating the shikimic acid as an amine salt, subsequently decomposing the amine salt and isolating the shikimic acid. SOLUTION: A solution containing shikimic acid in a solvent is mixed with ammonia or an amine represented by the formula: R1R2CHNH2 [R1 is H, a lower alkyl or a (substituted)aryl; R2 is a (substituted)aryl] [e.g. o- chlorobenzylamine or (S)-1-phenylethylamine] to isolate the shikmic acid as a salt thereof with the amine. The resultant salt of the shikimic acid with the amine is then decomposed to isolate the shikimic acid. A solution obtained by a method for extraction from a plant, a synthetic method using quinic acid or saccharides as a raw material, a method for producing the solution by Escherichia coli according to the fermentation, a fermenting method or the like using. a microorganism can be used as the above solution containing the shikimic acid. The solvent used for the solution of the shikimic acid is preferably a polar solvent. The amine is used in an amount of preferably 1-3 mol equivalents based on the total amount of the shikimic acid.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a halogenated aromatic ketone by carrying out acylating reaction of an aromatic halide with an acylating agent in the presence of a zeolite-containing catalyst. SOLUTION: An aromatic halide (e.g. chlorobenzene) is reacted with an aliphatic carboxylic acid or its derivative (e.g. propionyl chloride) which is an acylating agent in the presence of a zeolite-containing catalyst (e.g. an acid and β type zeolite-containing catalyst), as necessary, in a solvent (e.g. cyclohexane) at 200-500 deg.C for 0.1-24hr. The amount of the zeolite-containing catalyst used is 0.1-100wt.% based on the total amount of the organic reactants for the reaction according to batch or semibatch operations and at 0.1-30hr ratio expressed in terms of feed weight ratio of the organic reactants to be reacted on the catalyst weight basis per time for the reaction according to continuous or intermittent operations.

(Tm) of the polyamide resin (Tm+20 deg.C) at shear rates of 1, 10, and 100 (sec ), respectively, satisfy formulas: 2000000>=mua10>=2000 and mua1/mua100>=3.3. The mixture is blow molded.

Abstract: PURPOSE:In reacting an alkali metallic salt of 4-hydroxybenzoic acid methyl ester with ethylene dichloride in a polar aprotic solvent, to obtain the titled substance advantageously with a little limitation of device, and operation method, by controlling adequately reaction conditions such as temperature, conversion ratio, etc. CONSTITUTION:An alkali metallic salt of 4-hydroxybenzoic acid methyl ester is reacted with ethylene chloride in a polar aprotic solvent firstly at 80-120 deg.C under preferably a little pressure condition of .G or at normal pressure condition, 40-80mol% of the alkali metallic salt is converted. After the conversion is over, the temperature is then raised to >=120 deg.C, and the reaction is finished, to give the aimed compound. When the temperature is raised to >=120 deg.C, there is no upper limit of the reaction temperature, but preferably operation is carried out under a little pressure of .G, or at normal pressure by taking the boiling point of the solvent used into account.
