Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To impart an energy absorption function conventionally provided only in a part of seats in some models of vehicle to seat belts in all the seats to reduce injury to a human body caused by an impact in an accident by providing a lower-cost seat belt webbing than a conventional mechanical energy absorption mechanism, exerting energy absorption performance equivalent or superior to the conventional mechanism. SOLUTION: This seat belt webbing has an initial yield point elongation =15 kN, an elongation >=10% under 11.1 kN load, and an energy absorption work load >=900 J/m.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a core-sheath type conjugate fiber having a high specific gravity and a high strength, excellent in biodegradability and useful for fishing nets, curtains, etc., by including a prescribed amount of inorganic particles in a core part in a ratio of the core part within a prescribed range and providing the fiber with a prescribed fiber strength and a prescribed fiber specific gravity. SOLUTION: This conjugate fiber is a core-sheath type conjugate fiber comprising both a core part and a sheath part composed of a biodegradable polymer which is an aliphatic polyester such as poly-L-lactic acid. Inorganic particles which are metal compound particles having >=3 specific gravity such as barium sulfate in an amount of 12-80 wt.% are contained in the core part and the core part accounts for 9-60 wt.% of the conjugate fiber. The fiber strength is >=3.1 cN/dtex and the fiber specific gravity is >=1.45. The core-sheath type conjugate fiber preferably has >=7.65 dtex single fiber fineness.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a sheet for civil engineering work capable of being prevented from weathering during building construction and hardly damaged by a falling earthflow by forming the sheet comprising at least a woven fabric whose warp is made of aliphatic polyester fiber. SOLUTION: This sheet is obtained by preparing a warp and/or weft of aliphatic polyester fiber mainly comprising L-lactic acid and having a fineness of monofilament of =15 to 40%, ductility of 15 to 40% and melting point of >=130 deg.C and by employing as part of the sheet a woven fabric, e.g. plain weave fabric or leno clothe, using the warp and/or weft and having a weave density of 1,000 to 1,000,000 dtex/inch.

SOLUTION: This sheet for civil engineering work is obtained by using the thermoplastic synthetic filaments having tensile strength >=6.0 cN/dtex and 15 to 40% of elongation, coated surface with a compound selected from the organic silicone compound, for example, dimethylsiloxane and an organic fluorocompound, for example fluoroalcohol or polymer wax such as polyethylene wax in amount of 0.01% (based on the weight of the filaments) to have the coefficient of dynamic friction less than 0.01%, such as polyester filaments or polyamide filaments as the warp and/or weft to form a plain weave or the like having texture of 1000 to 1000000 dtex/in.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet jointly provided with significant good laying workability, the exhaustion preventiveness of soil and sand, and corrosion preventiveness of soil and sand, and switching adapted to bank protection works. SOLUTION: The sheet for public engineering works is composed of a core- sheathed type composite fiber with a strength of 4.0g/d or more and a specific gravity of 1.45 or more. The core part of the core-sheathed composite fiber is a thermoplastic copolymer containing a high specific gravity inorganic substance of 12wt.% or more and 80wt.% or lower, and the sheathed part is a thermoplastic copolymer. The high specific gravity inorganic substance is concretely a barium compound or titanium compound and, also, the thermoplastic copolymer is concretely composed of polyethylene terephthalate or polyhexamethylene adipamide. In the sheathed type composite fiber, the rate occupied by the core part is 90wt.% or more and 60wt.% or lower.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a base cloth for air bag having low air-permeability and high flexibility and free from resin-coating layer on the surface by weaving a cloth with a specific polyester multifilament at or above a specific cover factor. CONSTITUTION:The objective base cloth is composed of an essentially nontwisted polyester multifilament yarn having a total denier of >=220 and =0.6 and =8g/de, an elongation of >=12%, a dry-heat shrinkage of >=5.0 and =0.20g/de and an interlocking number of >=20. A cloth having a cover factor K of >=20,000 is formed by using the multifilament yarn. The cover factor K is defined by the formula K= NWXDW +NFXDF [NW and NF are density (number/inch) and fineness (de) of warp; DW and DF are density and fineness of the weft]. A base cloth for air bag having a tensile strength of >=170kg/3.0cm, a tear strength of >=18kg/2.54cm, a flexibility of /sec/cm at a pressure drop of 1.27cm can be produced by this process.

SOLUTION: This method for producing a webbing for a seat belt is characterized as a polyester yarn which is substantially composed of a butylene terephthalate component and simultaneously satisfies >=0.8 intrinsic viscosity (IV), >=5.3 cN/dtex strength (T) at break, 10-25% elongation (E) at break and >=6% dry heat shrinkage percentage (ΔS) at 150 deg.C is used as warps, woven and then subjected to a limited heat shrinkage treatment. This webbing for a seat belt is characterized as the webbing is a webbing for a seat belt obtained by the method and has 20-50% elongation at 11.1 kN load.
