Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inexpensively maintain the uniformity of the interval of the space for holding a liquid crystal provided between an upper and a lower substrates even when deformation is occurred by thermal expansion or bending or the like of a shape deformation display screen. SOLUTION: The device is equipped with an array substrate 10 wherein switching elements for controlling the driving voltage and pixel electrodes are arranged in the array state, a counter substrate 30 on which counter electrodes are provided, and a liquid crystal layer 7 which is held between the array substrate 10 and the counter substrate 30. Here, the counter substrate 30 has a hard part 31 formed in the prescribed non-flat surface form using a hard material having a low thermal expansion coefficient and a soft part 32 which is integrally formed together with the hard part 31 used as a core material, at least on one surface side of the hard part 31, by using a soft material having a high thermal expansion coefficient. The array substrate 10 is formed using a flexible substrate 11 and, after the switching element mentioned above and a capacitance as well as packaging parts 13 and wiring layers 14 are integrally formed on the array forming surface 15, the array substrate is formed by bending its peripheral parts.

SOLUTION: An imaging device comprises a pixel part OEF, which comprises a photoelectric conversion film for converting incident light into a signal charge and a pixel capacitance for storing this signal charge, a thin-film transistor TFT1, the operation of which is controlled by a scanning line G1 to read out a pixel electrode potential to a signal conductor S1, and a protective diode TFT2, which releases a pixel potential to a bias line B1, when the pixel electrode potential reaches a potential higher than a prescribed potential to prevent a pixel electrode from being broken down, the transistor TFT1 connected with a source or a drain is adoped to the pixel electrode and a TFT having a long LDD length, a TFT of a double-gate structure or a TFT of a small transistor size is adoped for the TFT2, whereby the off-resistance of the imaging device is increased so as to inhibit leakage current in the device, and at the same time, the signal charge leaking prior to the readout of the pixel electrode potential is prevented, and the S/N ratio is reduced.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make mask alignment for forming a semiconductor island pattern for a switching element unnecessary, by forming a semiconductor pattern in a self-alignment manner, only in a narrow gap part between a source electrode and a drain electrode.
SOLUTION: A gate electrode 2a and the lake are formed on a substrate 1. After an insulating film 3 is formed, an a-Si layer 4, an n+a-Si layer 5 and a Cr layer 6 are deposited in order. A contact hole is formed. Al A9 layer 7 is formed on the Cr layer 6. Resist 8 is deposited on the Al layer, and patterns of a source electrode 9 and a drain electrode 10 are formed. After baking, the Al layer 7 is etched. The resist 8 is dissolved and made to adhere to facing regions of the source electrode 9 and the drain electrode 10. By using the resist pattern as a mask, an a-Si island is formed. The Cr layer 6 and the n+a-Si layer 5 are eliminated and thereon a picture element electrode is formed.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the weight of a liquid crystal display element without impairing its display quality, by providing a laminated structure including a first substrate, a second substrate and a liquid crystal layer with a single curved surface shape. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display element 10 includes an array substrate 11 disposed with pixel electrodes in a matrix form in a display region, a counter substrate 12 disposed with counter electrodes and the liquid crystal layer 13 held between the array substrate 11 and the counter substrate 12. The entire part of the element is curved to a columnar surface shape. The spacing between the array substrate 11 and the counter substrate 12, i.e., the thickness 13 of the liquid crystal layer is held by spherical spacers 14 consisting of plastic disposed in this spacing. The circumference of the spacing between the array substrate 11 and the counter substrate 12 is sealed with a sealing material 15 consisting of a UV curing type resin material, by which the liquid crystal layer 13 is liquidtightly sealed. In such a case, the degree of curving of the liquid crystal display element is arbitrary, but more adequately, the liquid crystal display element is so constituted as to have the displacement above twice at least the substrate thickness.

At the time of a display state with a high light transmittance of a liquid crystal layer 3, the layer 3 transmits light, which impinges on the solar cell 10, generating an electro motive force. Consequently, by utilizing it as a power source, the reduction of electro motive force of the internal cell can be supplemented, enabling the device to be used for a long time.

ITO pixel electrodes 15 are formed selectively on the transparent glass substrate 11 and the wavelength selection interference filters 14r for red (or 14g for green or 14b for blue) are formed on these ITO pixel electrodes 15 and a thin-film transistor array films 2 is formed by using semiconductors selectively on the transparent glass substrate 11. Namely, the respectively wavelength selection interference filters 14r, 14g, 14b for red, green and blue are arranged in place of absorption filters in the transparent electrode positions in the pixels corresponding to the respective colors of the device. As a result, the light of the components exclusive of the colors in the pixels is once returned to a waveguide plate 21 and is again introduced into the TFT-LCD panel and is utilized by transmitting the pixels corresponding to these colors.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To provide a low resistivity and to facilitate handling by making Mo and/or W the major component and by adding an element selected from Ar, Kr and Xe. CONSTITUTION: A gate electrode 1 formed on a glass board 101 is made to have Mo and/or W as major component, and the ratio of the lattice constant of the material of the gate electrode 1 to the lattice constant of the material in bulk condition is be within ±3%. An element selected from Ar, Kr and Xe is added to the metal of the major component. In such case, Ar is set at 0.0003 atom %-5 atom %, Kr is set at 0.0003 atom %-3 atom % and Xe is set at 0.0003 atom % to 3 atom %. The content of the major component, Mo and/or W, is preferably 10 atom %-95 atom %. Thus, a low resistivity is obtained and handling is facilitated.
