Abstract: PURPOSE:To suppress temperature rise of a magnetic material by providing a coating having a larger thermal radiation rate than the magnetic material on the surface of the magnetic material consisting a deflection device. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic piece 50 consists, for example, of a silicone steel plate and on the surface of said silicone steel plate a ceramic layer 10 is formed. Said ceramic layer is formed by a method wherein suspension of silicon containing zirconium (ZrSiO4) and an alkoxide compound of zirconium, for example, ZrSi(OC4H9)4 is applied as a filler by a spraying method to form an about 10mum thick coating followed by heat treatment. Thereby, temperature rise of a magnetic material can be suppressed.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent the vibration of a shadow mask and ensure the easy assembly thereof by changing the relative position of a shadow mask skirt part and a mask frame for the support thereof between the long and short sides of the shadow mask. CONSTITUTION:The skirt part 7b of a shadow mask 7 is supported with and fixed to a mask frame 8. The skirt part 7b is so fixed as to be outside the mask frame 8 at the long side and corner of the shadow mask 7. Also, the skirt part 7b is so fixed as to be inside the mask frame 8 at the short side of the shadow mask 7. According to the aforesaid construction, the skirt part 7b at the short side is subjected to stress 17 in an inward direction and the main plane 7a of the shadow mask 7 is subjected to stress in an outward direction. Consequently, the shape maintenance capability of the shadow mask 7 is increased and the shadow mask 7 is always maintained at a constant shape. Also, the joints of the skirt part 7b and the mask frame 8 can be easily worked.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To stabilize the holding status of a shadow mask by forming a spring member for hooking the shadow mask to a stud pin, using two members, and connecting both members to each other for such construction as preventing the inter-torsion thereof. CONSTITUTION:A shadow mast 18 is fitted in such a way that a spring member 50 is fixed to a frame 19 forming a part of the shadow mask 18 and the support hole 54 of the spring member 50 is hooked to a stud pin 22. The spring member 50 comprises two members 51 and 52, while the member 52 is welded to the frame 19 and the member 51 is welded to the member 52. This member 52 has a support hole 54. If the member 52 is bent toward the axial direction of the stud pin 22 at the time of mounting the shadow mask 18, no permanent deformation takes place as the member 52 is bent together. A cut erection part 521 is formed on the member 52 and keeps a gap of about 0.5mm from the support side 514 of the member 51, thereby minimizing the torsion of both members 51 and 52. According to the aforesaid construction, the deformation of the spring member 50 is prevented and the shadow mask 18 is properly retained.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To make temperature during operation of a frame restrainable, by making a heat radiation rate of the mask frame large than that in the same temperature of a shadow mask. CONSTITUTION:At a position proximately opposed to a phosphor screen 4, plural slitlike openings, being supported of their peripheral parts by a mask frame consisting of iron material and about 1.2 X 10 deg in its thermal expansion coefficient, are disposed in a vertical direction. Likewise, a lot of shadow masks 5 disposed in a horizontal direction are supported via elastic members 12. This shadow mask 5 is composed of a 36% Ni-Fe alloy, namely, a so-called fan bar material as in 1.2X 10 deg smaller as compared with the iron material. With this constitution, any partial deformation in the shadow mask 5 during operation by a thermal expansion difference between the shadow mask 5 and the mask frame 7 can be prevented.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a convergence-free color picture tube having excellent resolution on the entire part by improving shape of electron beam spot in the periphery of displayed picture through application of deflected field control element. CONSTITUTION:The electron beam releasing pores 5, 6, and 7 are arranged in line, and a pair of deflected field control elements 9a, 9b are provided to the center beam releasing pore 6, while a pair of deflected field control elements 8a, 8b and 10a, 10b are respectively provided to the beam releasing pores 5 and 7 in both sides. These deflected field control elements are arranged in both sides of the electron beam releasing pores in such a manner that the interval (Go) on the in-line arranging axis (X axis) or the line connecting the electron beam releasing pores in the interval opposing in the in-line arranging direction becomes maximum as compared with the interval at the other portion. The opposing area of field control element is formed in such a way as corresponding to the outline of circular electron beam releasing pores, namely to a circle. Therefore, in regard to the interval of the deflected field control elements opposing each other in both sides of the electron beam releasing pores, the minimum part is considered as (GE) while the maximum part as (GO).

Abstract: PURPOSE:To sufficiently suppress mis-landing over the whole effective screen by providing an electron absorbing layer charged negatively in response to the electron current density and deflecting and focusing electron beams. CONSTITUTION:An electron absorbing layer 31 charged negatively in response to the electron current density is provided. An electron beam 20c passing near the left side of a through hole 27 is deflected in the direction apart from a tube axis 47 by negative electric charges charged on the surface of the center side wall, and an electron beam 21c passing near the right side of the through hole 27 is deflected in the direction near to the tube axis 47 by negative electric charges charged on the surface of the opposite side wall. Thereby, beams can be focused on a screen 14. Therefore, the landing point 42a of the electron beam tending to move to the tube axis 47 from the predetermined landing point 42 due to a doming phenomenon is again returned to the original landing point 42 by the offset action. Accordingly, the mis-landing of electron beams can be suppressed and decreased even if the doming phenomenon occurs.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To reduce a temperature difference between the center and periphery of mask body and suppress doming by providing a heat reflecting layer on the surface of the area where the body of shadow mask of cathode ray tube and the frame are mutually facing. CONSTITUTION:The shadow mask of a cathode ray tube is formed by welding a mask body 15 consisting of the effective surface provided with many through holes 10 and a skirt area 18 provided in the periphery thereof to a frame 17 where a heat reflecting layer 20 consisting of the nickel plated layer in the thickness of 10-20mum is provided on the internal surface 17a and external surface 17b facing to the periphery 15a which has almost the L-shaped section and includes the skirt area 18 of mask body 15. Accordingly, when the shadow mask is heated through collision of electron beam, heat radiation to the frame 17 is reduced and thereby temperature difference between the center and periphery of the mask body 15 can be reduced and doming can also be eased and color shift be prevented.

CONSTITUTION:A shielding mask 8 consisting of long lateral slits having no break in horizontal direction is provided on the bottom surface of a mask frame 7.
