Abstract:
A computer-implemented method for gray balance calibration in an image printing system is provided. The method includes printing, using a print engine, a reference test pattern consisting essentially of black marking medium; sensing, using a sensor, the reference test pattern to obtain a reference image data, the reference image data being a function of the black marking medium; printing, using the print engine, a second test pattern comprising a combination of marking mediums of different colors, other than the color black, available on the image printing system to simulate the black marking medium; sensing, using the sensor, the second test pattern to obtain a second image data, the second image data being a function of the combination of marking mediums; and determining a difference between the reference image data and the second image data to obtain a correction offset for gray balance calibration in the image printing system.
Abstract:
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and apparatus for analyzing images deposited on an image receiving member of a printer.SOLUTION: A method and apparatus for analyzing images deposited on a surface of an imaging drum 12 in an inkjet printer. A photoelectric sensor supported by an imaging sled 112 in contact with the surface 14 of the imaging drum 12 is used to detect missing jets in a printhead, to align the printhead, to reduce the amount of purged ink, and to determine a runout of the imaging drum 12.
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inexpensively achieve high monochromatic quality per page in a printer. SOLUTION: The printer 100 is provided with a controller 140 and a printing mechanism 120 operably connected to the controller 140. The printer is adapted so as to make the controller 140 receive printing data 51, to discriminate a monochrome image and a color image shown by the printing data 51 from each other, and to control the printing mechanism 120. By that, the monochrome image is printed onto a print medium almost at a first saturation level. The color image is printed onto a print medium at a saturation level below a second saturation level lower than the first saturation level. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a maintenance system carrying out the maintenance of the image forming member of the image forming device which can prolong the usable life of a drum maintenance unit and hold or enhance printing quality and printing speed. SOLUTION: The maintenance system includes a precleaning device 112 for cleaning an image forming member 102 prior to an image cycle, an applicator 108 for applying a removing agent onto the image forming member 102, a measuring blade 110 for measuring the removing agent on the image forming member 102, a reservoir 122 for storing the removing agent in a remote position, and a pump 123 for supplying the removing agent from the reservoir 122 to the applicator 108. Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for maintaining an imaging member of an imaging device which performs an image cycle in which an image is transferred from one substrate to the other substrate and provides a drum maintenance unit with extended life expectancy that maintains, enhances or improves the quality of print and the speed of printing. SOLUTION: The maintenance method comprises pre-cleaning the imaging member 102 with a pre-cleaning device 112, applying a release agent to the imaging member 102 by an applicator 108, metering the release agent into a film on the imaging member 102 with a metering device 110, and removing debris from the imaging member 102 with at least one of the pre-cleaning 112 device or the metering device 110 prior to transferring an image to the imaging member 102 and after transferring the image to the substrate. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for operating an ink-jet printer that is used for improving ink dispersion and coverage quality, and also, for improving image quality in a solid area. SOLUTION: The ink-jet printer prints a second image on a first image after printing the first image having the solid areas on the transfer surface of a print drum by a print head. The second image includes a painted-out area corresponding to the solid area selected from among the solid areas in the first image and is formed of dots arranged more sparsely than those in the first image.
